OMG! Excellent! Recommend this place, hands down!
Decided last-minute to try this place out. My work partner and I were working on a project nearby and were hungry but pressed for time. As soon as we walked in, we were hit with smiles from the staff, cooks and a happy atmosphere and vibe by the patrons. We were sat down right away by the super-sweet lady, promptly handed our menus and brought our coffee we'd asked for! Awesome!
We both ordered traditional breakfasts to include the usual ham, eggs, toast and the most amazing shredded potatoes cooked to perfection! We both wanted crispy potatoes and that's what we got. My partner got french toast and she said they were spot on. The coffee was hot, fresh and there was no end to the refills.
The menu includes all kinds of Mexican dishes as well. If only we lived in the area, we'd surely try them out!
Eating area is truly set up as a diner. Very open, cozy and a variety of types of seating, including counter-eats-style. Nice family atmosphere is tangible! The staff chatting and interacting with the patrons is such a great vibe. Makes you feel like you're hanging out for lunch with family.
The bathroom was the only thing that we could make suggestions about (not complaints). A fresh coat of paint, brighter lights, deep clean the floors and this would have been a five-star!
Parking is pretty good, private/attached lot. Wheelchair accessibility seems okay too getting to/into the diner, and seating areas.
As we were leaving, even the kitchen cooking staff gave us a wave and a smile good-bye. Now that's what I call...
Read moreTHE GOOD The salsas are great. Nacho chips can be skinnier n crispier. I had only been there for breakfast and liked it. This time we went for lunch.
My dish consisted of a wonderful big chile Verde burrito which was great. THE BAD The other dish however, was carnitas. This was NOT regular carnitas. It frankly was un edible. Texture and taste was horrid. I did not complain because I just wanted to be in n out of there. I had to share my burrito w my friend which was fine but the 2 unedible tacos were left. THE UGLY 1 male server mopped w strong fabuloso cleaner right as we were eating. I could "taste" the chemicals w my food. At this point I was mad because I had bragged to my friend that this place was awesome. Also, the male server was singing so loudly that I felt uncomfortable. He just belted out the tunes as if in the shower...loud and outa tune. This was not professional and I was bummed that this experience here might just be my last. I wouldn't be surprised if this place loses business...they couldn't bother to bring me my bill either as they all chatted w one customer at once.
I really liked the Asian waitress from the last couple times, she was attentive, courteous and professional. Please get it together Tommy's. Will upgrade this review if...
Read moreFive stars all the way. An old school diner with great food and excellent service.
I've passed this place dozens of times. How did I miss this small hole in the wall years ago while attending ELAC? And the. Reference to a hole in the wall is said in a positive way
Either way, it's a good spot and service is excellent. Ordering was easy and the food gets to you quick! The food was tasty and portions are hearty. I had the typical eggs, hash browns and sausage as well as coffee. Delicious.
The servers make their rounds at a good clip and maker sure you have refills.
A lot of the customers knew the workers and it appeared that they have been coming here for years. Not having been here before, I was still welcomed and greeted with friendly service. It's a small place that you can sit down, have a good meal and feel right at home. It feels like an old school diner which I'm fond of.
There much to like about Tommy and I suggest you visit. It's at the southeast corner of Atlantic and Cedar Chavez in...
