I stopped here to take a break while driving south during a really bad thunderstorm. This is a decent Mexican spot to jump off the interstate for lunch or dinner. Very cheap pricing. The large house marg was pretty good and had a decent amount of alcohol. The service was slow but not terrible. They claim to be the best Mexican restaurant this side of the border, which border they're talking about?... I'm not exactly sure. Likely between Alabama and Tennessee. There's also 2 locations near Montgomery using the same menu with this bold claim printed on them, so maybe they have the best 2 Mexican restaurants this side of the(let's call it a state line). Not sure which location is better, but by default one of them is lying. The cheese dip is especially good here, better than most of the places I've ever been to, and I travel all over the country regularly. Let's go ahead and say they have the best cheese dip in Alabama, I'd say that's fair. The salsa is nice and spicy here, and although I enjoyed my meal the ground beef is seasoned like some Tacos you'd make at home. Need to reevaluate the ground beef, not at all authentic and overly seasoned with cheap taco seasonings. Again, I still enjoyed this place. The booths here look like they were pulled from a run down Arby's in 1994, if...
Read moreWe were referred here by some friends , and was excited because I love ethnic foods. Pros: got a seat quick but it was only a few tables Cons: the servers couldn't speak English so they couldn't address our questions, the salsa taste like tomato soup but worse not chunky no flavor, we ordered chicken fajitas and veggie fajitas, the cheese on beans taste like rubber and both beans and rice was not hot. We had to ask for guacamole even though menu says included. The fajitas did not come out sizzling like most restaurants and food was warm and very bland. The vegetarian fajitas had quarter size hard onions and slices of soft onions, hard quarter size bell peppers, mushrooms rubbery, overall they were not good it actually made me sick I left 😑 the food there wasn't worth me feeling worse and went to get a ginger ale. My husband said his chicken fajitas wasn't seasoned and warm. We never got offered napkins beside the one the was included in silverware. Nothing about the food or service was good our server was talking with the other employees or on her phone, but we still left a tip out of kindness. This wasn't worth the drive or upset stomach 😕 I will stick to ethnic restaurants...
Read moreDON'T DO IT!! 😭😭 This was actually the worst "Mexican" food I've ever had in my life. I have never left a full plate behind and not at least taken it home for my dog but this stuff would have made my dog sick. Whoever was in the kitchen cooking is literally obsessed with the spice CUMIN. IT'S IN EVERYTHING! HEAVILY! (And I love cumin)😩 I tasted it first in the salsa that came out with the chips and I thought it was a little different but okay. The salsa did seem fresh made. I ordered the combo plate with a burrito and an enchilada and a taco so I could kind of sample everything. Same cumin salsa on the burrito and in the gross enchilada sauce. Beef was completely flavorless. First plate came out cold so I sent it back to get reheated in the microwave thinking that would make it better. IT DID NOT. The rice and beans weren't even good. They seem like very nice people but the food is atrocious. I felt sick the whole way home and had to fight back the vomit. It was so bad that me and my husband could do nothing but laugh hysterically the whole way home with upset stomachs. 🤦🏽♀️ The decor was festive and the bathroom was very...
