Magnolia bar & Grill — Restaurant in Montgomery

First things first, while the wait staff were all very nice there was a real lack of professionalism. The host greeted us with, there's just a buffet tonight, listed off the options and didn't seems to think we were going to eat there. When we began to follow him in he realized we intended to eat and he found us a seat and told us the buffet would be ready in a minute. He came back, got our drinks, we just had water. Buffet options included baked BBQ chicken or pulled pork, with mixed vegetables or potatoes on the side. There was also a salad bar, a soup and dessert. I put a little of everything on my plate. The chicken didn't seem cooked all the way and the pulled pork was soggy. The pulled pork had good flavor though. Both the mixed vegetables and the potatoes were okay. Potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and fairly well seasoned. The soup was cold and lacked seasoning. The salad bar was the best part. There were several options and all of them looked fresh and tasted good. They also had dessert. The cheesecake was okay. Over all the food was average or below and although the wait staff were nice they were lacking. No one refilled our drinks, when the bill was brought out no one asked if we needed anything else or offered to fill the drinks, at that point I just asked for a pen so I could sign and get back to my room. The waiter did notice I was military and ensured he put the discount on the check. When he brought the check back for me to sign there were greasy fingerprints all over it like he'd dipped his fingers in grease before bringing it out. Buffet was 13.95 per person before tax. After trying hotels for 200 miles we were finally accommodated for our trip. We order takeout, room service from the magnolia grill and everyone’s food was phenomenal. We picked it up downstairs as we were exploring and then headed up to the room. Our food was ready in 15 min. The room is clean and the temperature is comfortable. The beds and pillows are comfy, and of course coffee is supplied in the room. There is also a refrigerator and a microwave.

Downstairs there is also a little pantry where you can purchase a variety of food items and drinks so that you never have to leave! There is a heated, indoor pool, seating area in and outside, and a small gym open for use.

Our stay has not ended but so far I am impressed and very thankful for...

Terrell was an excellent server and was handling the front of the house and bar alone. Food was very good and hot. Only took a short amount of time for our order and everything was as ordered. One of the best burgers I have had in a long time. My husband enjoyed the chicken strips and he is particular about the quality of food. They were definitely breaded and fried, not frozen from a box!

Atmosphere was like a sports bar on one end where we sat, but there were other tables if you aren’t interested in games and sports on TVs.
