Traveled to Montgomery from NC for a college tour and visited this bakery based on a stellar review by a well known online food critic. What a disappointment.
We went to the Decatur Street location and were taken aback because it looked so run down, inside and out. That didn't sway us since we know that some great food can come from a hole in the wall.
Bought 5 cupcakes and a slice of cake for my family. The cupcakes were good, not exceptional. My personal cupcake (cinnamon roll flavor) had the texture of a muffin more than a cupcake. All satisfied our sweet tooth but nothing to rave over. One of my children really enjoyed the red velevet cupcake and my husband said the chocolate cupcake was good.
The worst part of the visit was the non-existent customer service. Whoever was working the counter on 7/27/24 at 4pm is a HORRIBLE representative for this small business. No greeting, barely responded when we had questions about flavors (none of them were labeled), literally threw one cupcake in its container, never offered a bag for all of the products we purchased. When I asked for a bag, we were given one but the worker did not put the items in for us. No thank you, no farewell...nothing. At one point, I asked my daughter if she wanted to leave since I don't like spending money in places where customers are not apreciated and treated well, but she wanted to try them so we made the purchase.
Maybe we could have gotten better service at the Southern Boulevard location. Who knows? And I'll never know because I wouldn't give this business any more of my money and would never...
Read moreThings I love: the variety and the diversity of the selections...things that you would never think to be a cupcake ...are! However things I don't like: while they are amazingly good - they are quite heavy (greasy-like). They are not fluffy ...but this maybe due to the type of cupcakes that I selected. Nevertheless it is worth giving a try! The banana pudding, peach cobbler and butter pecan were all pretty delicious and pricing is avg (roughly $2.50 per cupcake). Oh and the frosting 👌👌 - I would buy again!
Update 2021: Still heavy (greasy); but it is definitely an acquired taste for some. While back home for Thanksgiving, I visited them to grab some cupcakes for our holiday dinner. The clerk working the front, attitude was so nasty! It was noticed by all of the patrons. When acquiring about the availability of certain flavors, her response was "I don't know" ! Is that how JoZettie operates?! No ma'am! Certainly not when there is another cupcake business blocks over. Customer service is key and clearly they missed the mark that day! Needless to say, I did not purchase any cupcakes. They really need to speak to their employees about the 101's of...
Read moreI absolutely HATE to write this review, but I feel it’s necessary. I have loved Jozettie’s for years. It was a weekly visit of mine for a while. I am a director of a nonprofit in Montgomery. We called to place an order to deliver to our friends at another business here in town. When calling the young man was so rude and demeaning that I asked for the order to be cancelled. He laughed at us on the phone, and was snappy several times. I have spoken to others who have had similar experiences. Cancelling our order may not be a big deal to them, but please know when you are serving customers you never know who you are dealing with. Let me add, I also know people have bad days, but this felt more like an “I don’t care” situation. Jozettie’s red velvet is a favorite of mine, but with the experience I had today, overshadows any love I have for...
