Capitol Bakery — Restaurant in Monticello

Best bakery in town, hands down.

Baked goods for all tastes. Everything is hand made and everything I've had is delicious! I stopped in one morning for conchas to take to the office. I had to wait on them to come out of the oven, but oh my goodness- what a treat!!

**Sadly, three weeks after my 5 star review, I have to revise. The items here are great IF you get them fresh. But items are not baked fresh daily. They seems to sit in displays for days and days. The cookie case for example seems to be replenished about once per week and has a bit of a rancid oil smell.

I hope this bakery changes their practices to have a few fresh items rather than a plethora of old, stale,...

My kids and I love this bakery store!!! Takes us back when we were kids. My daughter is autistic and this place is the only one where I can find the fill in cream cheese bread🤤 that she likes. Hope they are here for a very long time bc I don’t feel like driving all the way to chicago to find this type of bread 🥰....
