Kind of off the main drag, this has been here for 2 years and I just now recently found it. I really wish I had found it 2 years ago, thinking back on all that good food I missed out on. My first dinner there was amazing! It's not 5 star restaurant food, but good ol' down home country cooking! The portions are well worth the asking price and service is fast and friendly. I had the pot roast and I told my wife that it wasn't as good as hers, but I didn't tell her how close it was! (shh..)🤫 We enjoyed it so much, we went back to try the breakfast the next morning. OHHH MY... we'll be bringing all of our friends from out of town here for breakfast, they will be so jealous. I had the Volcano and my wife had the Griz. No way we could eat that much good food at one sitting. The sweet cream pancakes are the best I've ever had. My new favorite local restaurant! Update 5/24/27 We have been back multiple times since the first post, and the food and service has been very good each time... until now.😔 Today was the first time I was disappointed when I left. I ordered the hot open faced turkey sandwich. It was warm, but the bread was dry and the turkey gravy was sparse. My wife ordered a club sandwich, and since she doesn't like ham, she ordered it with double turkey instead. Hasn't been a problem in the past, but this time they didn't add the extra turkey, they just left off the ham. Now this evening, they weren't very busy, and the host was also our waiter. We both just ordered water for our drinks, and ran out halfway through our meal. I had to catch our waiter to get a refill, and since I was the one who called him over, he only filled my glass and left my wife's empty.🤨 So I had to call him over again to fill hers. As slow as it was, there was no reason for this kind of lack of attention. Overall, the meal wasn't terrible, and we will be back because we know how the food and service normally is. But if this had been my first experience, I would not be interested...
Read morethey just had 4 pages of health department violations last week my question is why did the gm and managers let it get this bad and how long was this going on while they let it get to this point and people still eating here taking the chance of getting food born illnesses and the obviously didn’t care how dirty the kitchen was so they have been addressing it finely now that it was brought to the regional directors attention and had to get involved which should have never happened and he had to have the area director sent to investigate and get it taken care of that’s unacceptable and someone needs held accountable for this failure I do know they have tore the whole kitchen apart and it was absolutely disgusting and started a deep cleaning cause you can see them doing it and they put a stop to the managers and employees going outside smoking that’s so disgusting and how long was that going on we will have to see how this plays out when the health department comes back for the reinspect imo black bear corporate office should’ve fired the gm and managers for the lack or care for the public safety of getting someone sick and food poisoning and a 4 page violation from the health department the gm also let the ac slide for days in 100 degree heat index before getting it addressed after a week until that was also brought to the attention of the regional Director seems this gm don’t care much about his job title and responsibility of running a multimillion dollar restaurant what’s your thoughts about this situation would you want your family to get sick from a lack of responsibility I...
Read moreAte here 12/15/2022. Our waiter was great all the way through. It was early evening so not very busy. I ordered the chicken fry with mashed potatoes and instead of a salad I opted for the tomato soup which came with cornbread.
Over all.. Plenty of food, great service, hot, great look to the place.
I could be wrong, but the chicken fry appeared to be from frozen and pre-battered (for 16 dollars I expected from scratch).
The tomato soup was, okay. It was better than what I make out of a can, but it wasn't anything special.
The cornbread came out piping hot with the soup, however I am 99% certain it was microwaved. The texture was a bit rubbery. Flavor was good though.
The chicken fry came out with just enough gravy on top of the chicken fry to not reach the edges. I needed to ask for more and my waiter promptly obliged. I'm fairly sure a typical Oklahoman would want their chicken fry fully engulfed in the gravy though. Even though I'm convinced the chicken fry was from a frozen plastic bag, it was actually pretty darn good. Not the best, but good.
Overall, for the price I would say it was a B- rated experience. I wanted to say C but the waiter was good lol. It was overpriced for the quality but at the same time I wasn't unhappy. It was more like, okay, yea, I did that. Now I will continue exploring for my next go to place as this...
