After 20 years of coming here, I am DONE. We have been here so many times, but we were rudely treated by the manager there. We were given the wrong items. We purposely ordered on the AL la Carte menu to save money. I asked for two "beef and cheese" and got two "beef and cheese burritos" instead. Paid $8.95 instead of $5.99. My wife asked for one burrito, standard beef/nacho cheese and red sauce and added 3 shrimp; they gave her one burrito with NO red sauce, queso on top with 3 shrimp. So we paid $9.00 instead of the $5.50. Instead of budgeting for a $15 meal, it wound up nearly double just under $30. After my wife went back in to explain, this lady was curt, rude, not willing to understand, and then took $3 out of the cash register and TOSSED it at my wife. My wife explained that we were just trying to save money and that we, had 2 orders wrong and it was double what we planned to spend. Management is awful, and only cares about their money, not loyal customers. I hope nobody else is treated like we were, and my wife was sweet and kind about it. We will never return, thanks for ruining a good restaurant for us. Plus my wife is so sweet, she didn't even take the money and cried because how they treated her.
This isn't the first time they got our order wrong and we rarely mention it. So the one time we do because we're trying to save money just shows us they don't deserve another cent from us. Guard your family from this place when they mess up your order.
Edit: The owner replied, just want to ask everyone why would my wife ask for NO RED SAUCE and then go inside and ask for RED SAUCE? When the owner came out, let's just be honest, my wife and I didn't really understand what she was trying to say, so to not just be rude, we said "it's ok, we'll eat it as is." My wife NEVER asked for extra queso, NOR said she did NOT want red sauce! Let's remind the owner here that my wife's meal and my meal were wrong and we paid MORE for it. For that "extra queso" my wife did NOT ask for (she read it as "nacho cheese" off the menu description and pointed to it, as did I), we understand things happen. But how this manager treated us and apparently lots of other customers too is disgusting. She needs to learn to take some accountability and treat other people better because my wife was not rude to her. She's just trying to correct a bill that was double of what we wanted. No one orders off of a la carte expecting to pay $30. and we STILL tipped, so you can walk back your courtesy of giving us 3 shrimp when we paid for stuff we didn't even want. Again, to clarify for the owner, my wife ordered straight from the paper "beef, nacho cheese, and red sauce", not queso with no red sauce. That makes no sense. But thank you for your reply. Clearly, you haven't learned anything on how to treat customers, and your reviews show it. My wife and I will be happy to eat at other mexican...
Read moreI can’t recommend this restaurant. Not only was the shredded beef in my burrito rancid (likely due to the heat today), but more importantly the manager/owner was horrifyingly rude about it.
I was hungry hadn’t eaten, thought the beef tasted rancid but was thinking “maybe this restaurant just isn’t great and maybe Im too hungry to judge” so ate half of the burrito. However, when my mom asked for a bite she confirmed immediately it was rancid, her pork tasted nothing like the slightly sour, pungent beef I had tried to eat out of hunger.
As a courtesy, I let the manager/owner know. I had already eaten half, I intended on paying bc I hadn’t brought it up immediately but thought they should know something was wrong for anyone else who may order the entree.
I was taken aback by his response. He yelled at me for 15 min in front of the other customers telling me I was the one with issue and the beef was fine. He had tasted the beef many times and it was fine. I explained it wasn’t about personal preference, I thought he should know for his other customers that something was wrong. Again he goes off on me stating he has worked there over 12 years and knows the beef is good. No one else has ever had an issue with the entree before. And he said, “if you dont like it fine Ill take it off your bill”. I explained again I didnt want it taken off I was just letting him know as he should be aware. Again, blamed me and said I don’t have to eat there and I said, “I wont! I wont be back and I’ll be certain to write a review about my experience”. ONLY THEN did he seem concerned and went to the back and tasted the meat confirming it was indeed rancid. Too late to apologize after yelling at a customer for 15 min assuming they want a free meal. Nope. “Im sorry, it is on me” doesn’t cut it at the point I am walking out the door.
I won’t be back. He was not kind not only to me but also to his staff. His character is not one I want to support. I feel horribly for the waitress and cooks who have to deal with his...
Read moreWe are familiar with the El Rodeo chain from living in the Lafayette area. Thought we'd give this one in Mooresville a try, especially since the parking lot had several cars when we arrived... figured it was a good sign. While we were seated pretty quick, there is not much more positive I can say about our experience after that point. Here's the highlights: waited 15 minutes for a server to take drink order with 3 little kids at dinner time this was an eternity, especially without chips and salsa--this waiting also took place with us sitting on the main aisle and being passed by every server and completely ignored (no eye contact, a smile, nothing); food order incorrect (child who cannot have cheese was given taco with cheese), we could not get this fixed either because server was not to be found until we got the bill; lastly, the portions were the worst I have seen at a Mexican restaurant. I ordered arroz con pollo for dinner expecting to be able to share my meal with my 1 year old, which I couldn't do. The pieces of my chicken we're so small it looked like the scrapings from the pan and there were only a few pieces, literally 3, you call strips. I wish I had taken a picture because it was unbelievable that this meal was $10. Even the rice, which made up most of the plate, was less than what you get other places. Out of everything, it was the poor service that was the worst. We were never welcomed and basically ignored the entire time...no refills on anything among the other issues stated above. I am usually willing to give a restaurant more than one chance because maybe it was just a bad night, but there's no reason for us to come back here. If we're in the area and want Mexican we'll try anything else...the service was too poor and the food wasn't worth it...
