We have been to the UP several times and each time try pasties from different places. So far, the first two times were just okay. But this time we went to homemade pasties and it was THE BEST we have had. Crust was flakey and perfect, and the filling savory and perfectly cooked. The gravy was also beyond wonderful. I made the mistake of saying gravy only with the sliders. Do not be like past Kim. Be like Kim in a few days who will get more beef pasties with gravy. All the gravy. Read moreI happened to stop off here after seeing the pasty sign out front. The pasty had flimsy, pale, wafer thin pastry. Not the many layered, golden brown coloured pastry that Cornish pasties have, and not the taste and crunchy that I would associate with a pasty! I realise that I’m not in the UK anymore and figured perhaps these U.P pasties aren’t meant to look similar to a “Cornish pasty”. However a simple google search proved my summation wrong. Penny walked us through the process so we got the full taste of all things Pasty. We had a beef, gravy, Cole slaw, and a pickle. Then an apple and cherry one for dessert.
