If you like creative food or just in the mood for something out of the norm.. then this is your place! The décor and ambiance had a flair of European sheik, layered with lots of Southern charm. We ordered several things as we like to create our own tasting menu lol. We had the blue cheese grits topped with fried oysters and drizzled with their own homemade Buffalo sauce.. OOH MY!! My husband is not an oyster person.. just doesn't care for them at all BUT this dish was absolutely amazing and we shared it right down to the last oyster and the very last bite lol. We also shared a plate of the burnt ends.. AKA little chunks of pork belly drizzled with housemade bbq sauce and Served with warm cherries and a smokey flavor... Absolutely delicious.. So flavorful. I'm not one who typically likes anything with the word burnt in front of it .. But these were anything but… they were crispy yet meaty with smokey deliciousness in every bite. Everything was quite tasty.. however these first 2 Dishes were our personal favorites for sure. Ordered the "fried cheese" cheeseburger.. very different.. Served with Heinz 57 sauce.. and pickles...The cheese was overflowing and crispy around the edges. We personally prefer a plumper Burger but it was tasty.. with a bit of old fashioned flair. The French fries were fresh and very good. we also had the redneck egg rolls.. Which was filled with chopped pork barbecue And served with a side of wasabi coleslaw.. Not big on slaw but the slight hint of spice was very complimentary to those crispy perfections.. Wish the meat had more of a smokey flavor but they Were unique and tasty . Also we ordered one of the dinner specials that consisted of A Garlic and beer marinated grilled pork chop Underneath a Southwest sweet corn medley And a skewer of grilled shrimp and andoille sausage And this was all atop Homemade mashed sweet potatoes ..not Overly Done but naturally sweet, fresh, and tasty. We also tried the collard greens that had a hint of Tobasco.. Just the right amount of spice. Needless to say.. we had to oreder dessert to go lol. we ordered a piece of keylime pie With a raspberry drizzle..was clearly housemade and very tasty. Our server was so friendly and so gracious And she gave us fantastic service from start to finish. It was altogether an outstanding and delicious dining experience. We look forward to our favorites as well as trying something new when we're back in town next month! A definite must try if you are ever in the area. Our compliments to the chef, the owners and the...
Read moreI'd give more stars, but there were concerns. Husband's birthday trip to the beach and we had dinner reservations there. We were asked if we wanted to sit at the bar or at a high top in the bar area. We said no, we made reservations for 2 for dinner. We were seated at a tiny table directly abutting a wall in a room where patrons and wait staff were constantly walking around 3 sides of us, inadvertently bumping my chair. The AC unit mounted on the wall directly behind me was blowing directly on my back. I politely asked if we could be moved. Our waiter went to check with the host. We were given the bar option again. Noting that a table of 4 had literally just left, and 2 tables pushed together for a larger party was exiting while waiting for an answer, I asked our server if we could be moved to one of those and the waiter said they were all reserved. By this time it was well after 8 pm. Husband was upset and we switched seats so at least the cold air wasn't on my back. We ordered drinks and appetizers. Our entrees were brought out and the food and drinks were good. Neither of the 3 empty tables in the room were filled with ANY more patrons. There is no way that reservations for 2-3 parties were made for after 8pm that did not show. Why, is an excellent question. Only one server was working our room, so it wasn't that. We were the last to exit that room of the restaurant. Was it the host? Why would they lie? If it wasn't for my husband's birthday, we would have left. That was absolutely inexcusable. It was approaching 10pm when we exited the restaurant. There was live music outside that was about to end, the guy said he was playing his last song. My husband tried to go back inside the restaurant less than 5 minutes after we exited, to use the restroom and he returned saying the restaurant must be closing because the door was locked. The food was good but really cannot recommend or give more stars unfortunately. We weren't a problem, we were polite, clean, dressed appropriately and dropped more than a couple hundred on drinks, an appetizer, 2 dinner entrees and tip. A simple polite request to be moved and we were lied to. Even the free bday dessert and waiter spending time talking with us couldn't change the fact that we had been lied to and had to endure the tiny table for our entire dining experience. Totally...
Read morePros: The atmosphere of the patio was beautiful in the evening. The service was so sweet and kind. But that was the only nice thing I have to say about the experience. The bathroom was clean 👍🏻
Cons: The drinks and food were very-very slow.
The live music was not impressive and I would have preferred the radio or nothing. It really took away from the ambiance of the the patio, and it seemed more like open mic night 🙉 (granted the performer was extremely nice as well.)
We did not spend much time inside, but it’s noteworthy that there was a lot of carpeting 🤢 and it was dark and cramped downstairs.
The food was by far the most disappointing aspect of our experience.
Appetizer: ceviche was the worst item of our order. It didn’t have any lime flavor. And it was served over warm black beans and melted cheese. So it was cold on top and hot on the bottom. Which created a luck warm center… It was horrible, and honestly made me a little sick.
Entree’s: back yard burger = plain and unremarkable lacked flavor. The fries were cold.
Ribeye w/ asparagus and whipped potatoes = the steak was huge and cooked perfectly… but lacked any seasoning/flavor, the asparagus was over cooked and also lacked flavor, the whipped potatoes were not whipped they were hard and lumpy and also cold, and again lacked flavor.
Thai shrimp burger = the shrimp was saturated in a sweet chili sauce… so much that the fried shrimp lacked any crunch. The menu stated it was served on a Kaiser roll with wasabi slaw. But it was on a regular bun, with a small amount regular cole slaw, and a small amount of wasabi on the bun. It was inedible.
kids meal - grilled cheese and fries = the grilled cheese was 1 slice of American cheese between 2 large pieces of Texas toast. It was dry and cold and difficult to eat, the French fries were cold and unseasoned.
Overall, you might have a better experience if you sit on the patio for drinks only, steer clear of their food. Or - if you enjoy your food cold and without flavor.
We picked this restaurant for its high google rating, and we were extremely disappointed. $110 and 2 hours of our lives we will...
