Dim sum... more like Some DIM sum, or better yet Grim sum. We were almost run off first by the run down decor/booths but we stuck it out. The waitress/owners wife was horrible. She barely spoke to us at all, and was very inattentive throughout our "meal". Worse than that, we saw the owner pull up to the front with another younger man and walk in with a small cooler. He brought it into the middle of the dining area, placed it on a table, then opened it up and showed it to his waitress/wife. Worse still was when he walked into the kitchen and then came back with an empty cooler. We were wondering "What the heck was in that cooler?!". We strongly considered walking out, but felt bad since they had probably already started cooking our order. Unfortunately, we were also very disappointed with the food. We ordered 6 different Dim sums and one entree, the Shrimp pad Thai. The dim sums were all pretty bland and unimpressive. The pad Thai was very peanut saucy flavored, not spicy at all and tasted like it came out of a bottle. We did not eat very much of what we ordered. It took forever for the waitress/owners wife to come and bring us our check and she never once came and asked us how our food was or asked to refill our drinks. She did bring us a box for our food, so I reluctantly boxed up only the peanuty pad Thai, not wanting to waste so much food. Once we left, we both felt unsatisfied, hungry and upset we had not walked out when our guts had told us both we should've just walked out. I can honestly say that this whole experience was the worst service and food we have ever had. After reading countless other customer reviews, we then realized that we had also been charged a 10% tip without realizing it and left another tip on top of that. That explains why she was so lax with her service, since she knew she was getting a tip regardless. I cannot believe that this business has not gotten in trouble for taking advantage of so many people. Also, the health department needs to look into what it is that they get delivered in a cooler! From there, we drove to another restaurant and got ourselves a drink and some wings. We were trying to salvage what was left of the evening and wash the bad taste out of our mouths, both literally and figuratively. We have Never had such a bad experience, nor had to go to another restaurant to sate our appetites after spending almost $50 for two. Please do not waste your time, money or taste buds on this establishment! Highly, highly unrecommended!!! Wish there was a no...

Once in a bustling town, there existed a renowned dim sum restaurant known for its culinary delights. Word spread far and wide of its exquisite dishes, drawing patrons from distant places. However, appearances can be deceiving, and this establishment was about to reveal its true colors.

One autumn afternoon, an eager connoisseur named Chris decided to embark on a gastronomic adventure, choosing the famed restaurant for her exploration. Chris, with his refined palate and high standards, walked through the dimly lit entrance, his anticipation piqued by the aroma wafting from the kitchen.

As he settled at his table, the ambiance failed to impress. The once-pristine decor was now marred by neglect, and the air carried a hint of mustiness. Undeterred, Chris placed his order, hoping the food would redeem the lackluster atmosphere.

When the dim sum arrived, his expectations were immediately dashed. The dumpling shells crumbled at the slightest touch, while the fillings were dried and unappetizing. The lotus leaf sticky rice emitted an unsettling odor, reminiscent of mothballs. Even the clams and duck were parched, void of their usual succulence. To add insult to injury, the food was served cold.

Chris' heart sank further when he discovered the exorbitant charge of $4.25 for a modest bowl of plain white rice. The service, too, was far from courteous, leaving him feeling unwelcome. His dining experience, meant to be a culinary delight, turned into a profound disappointment.

Reflecting on his experience, Chris vowed never to return to the ill-famed establishment. He thought fondly of the dim sum Asian bistro in Durham, where each visit promised satisfaction and warmth. As he walked out, he resolved to share his story, a cautionary tale for fellow food enthusiasts seeking true culinary joy. From that day forward, Chris' tale of the disappointing dim sum became a whispered warning, guiding others to seek out genuine gastronomic experiences.

And so, Chris returned to her favorite bistro, he trusted haven, where every meal was a testament to the artistry of fine cuisine. The lessons learned from his misadventure only deepened his appreciation for the places that truly celebrated the...

My family and I use to come here quite often for dim sum. Over time though, the quality of the food has declined as their prices have increased. During our most recent visit, we had to wait to be seated and when we finally were, it was at a table in a corner of the room right next to the door; it was pretty busy at that time, so we didn't think too much of it. However, it took 5 minutes for someone to come take our drink orders, which they never brought out until after we had asked three different servers for drinks over a 15 minute period. We kept waiting for the cold food cart to come to our table, but the woman pushing it never did. She would start at one side of the room and make her way around. When she was about 2 tables or so away from ours (the last table on that side of the room) she'd go back into the kitchen, her cart still half full of food. Usually this wouldn't be a big deal, but a friend with us was vegetarian and there wasn't much food on the hot carts that they could eat. After seeing her do this 3 times, finally we had to flag a waiter down and ask him to grab food off her cart for us. Our whole dining experience being so unpleasant, we had decided that we weren't going to leave a tip. As we were leaving the restaurant, a woman actually CAME OUT AFTER US and demanded that we leave a tip. We agreed to leave $15 (13% of our bill) but she then demanded that we had to leave at least 18% and wouldn't let us leave until we agreed with her demand. This was by far the worse dining experience I've ever had and I will no longer be coming here. If you want good dim sum, I would...

The food is good, but it’s gotten ridiculously expensive. A lunch of dim sum for 8 people, which included two kids, came to 320 dollars. We’ve come here before, but it was much more reasonable then; and we’ve also gone to other dim sum places in the srea, but this one is the most expensive that we’ve had so far. If it weren’t for the price, I would have given 5 stars. The service was excellent, all the ladies who hosted us were very attentive and nice. The food was good, same as other dim sum places. We ordered: Deep fried shrimp wrapped in bacon Pork dumplings Chicken feet in black bean sauce Chive shrimp dumpling Chinese broccoli with Oyster sauce Pork mochi Steamed Soup dumplings Crispy shrimp meat balls Pan fried pork buns Beef congee Duck with brown sauce Sweet coconut pudding Mango pudding Green tea Chrysanthemum tea Most of the food was warmed up and good, but the duck was hard, not soft and crisp. It was a bit pricey too. Most of the items are in the pictures, mostly one of each dimsum, 2 plates of combination fried rice (each rice was 17 dollars), and one bowl of kanji to taste, since some of us had not ever eaten kanji. Since there were 6 adults, there was enough for us. The kids ate the fried rice mostly, but there was one whole plate leftover, as they ate very little. Except for that, we didn’t have any leftovers.

Hm. Somewhere between 2 and 3 stars. We were so disappointed. The food was not hot; some of it was not even warm, and all the dishes we ordered should have been warm-to-hot. Everything was very expensive for the region, and the overall taste was just average. We love dim sum dishes in general, and this didn’t give us food poisoning or anything—it was just… so underwhelming and not worth us taking a detour to try this place out. Bummer, especially since the some of the staff were very nice. I suspect part of the problem is that it is hard to thrive on this kind of business model without a steady stream of customers to keep food in rotation. With this customer stream (aka an inconsistent flow of customers), you’re better off taking kitchen orders than going around with carts. Now, I do caveat this by saying we arrived shortly after they opened—but at that point, the carts already had lukewarm-to-cold food! That’s unacceptable, especially when you’re charging $6-$12 per dim sum dish! Those are high prices to begin with! So… if you’re local and love dim sum, perhaps go and support this restaurant so that it can become what a dim sum house is meant to be!
