We decided to try Jack Beagles for the first time on Sunday 8/5/24. When we first arrived we said what a nice place, our server was very attentive in getting our drinks, we were impressed with the menu options. We ordered our drinks and an appetizer the fried pickles which was good. After deciding on entrees, we placed our order only to find out there was no steak, which a majority of the menu used steak. Ok no problem we needed a few more minutes to look over the menu again to make another selection. During this time a man came into the bar highly inebriated and loud, I did notice the bar tender approached him and spoke to him. I will say I was impressed with the fact she did not serve him, however he became so loud in talking and saying things that really made the entire experience sitting there truly uncomfortable. I did hear the bar tender state she called him a ride, however at this point he should have been asked to leave, and not continue to make others very nervous and uncomfortable. We finally managed to get our order placed, I had chili mac my husband ordered a burger medium well. During this time the guy upsetting the environment got up stumbled out the door, in which a guy from the kitchen followed him outside, ok so that could explain why it took so long to get our food, which came out in pieces, the house chips first then mine then my husband. Mind you the first burger was burnt. OK let's give it back as this was not ordered. As we waited I watched the kitchen, I am not sure of protocol, but you should never see fire and flames on a flat top grill, or hear such loud bangs against the flat top as this will cause grooves and can mess up the grill. After waiting again the next burger again was over cooked. At this point we wanted our check and to leave as the experience was one of the most uncomfortable we had experienced and the food being below sub par. I will say the server and bartender did remove the burger off our bill. However not really found of watching your cook laughing and making comments about guests, when it was clearly apparent he doesn't know how to properly cook a hamburger to order, nor properly handle such cooking equipment. I was really hoping for a better experience, and I will give our server credit for doing what she can however, when told food issues was something that had been going on all day, then that tells me the issue is with the kitchen staff. Of course maybe I will try the location in Charlotte for a second chance but overall the experience in Mt. Holly I...
Read moreWhere do I start… We are regulars at this location, the regular bartender is so nice and recognizes us. But, on this particular night she wasn’t there. We went in to have a drink, a bite to eat, and watch the game. I sat in the only open chair at the bar which was near the servers area. As soon as I sat down the bartender(never seen her before) told me I can’t sit there. First of all, I was not the one that put the chair there. Anyways, scooted my chair over and asked for a menu. I ordered food and while we waited, she did not ask if we wanted anything to drink. When the food was ready, she brought it to us bagged and in Togo boxes and put the check on the bar. At this point we’re confused. I mentioned it to her and she grabs the receipt, crumbles it and threw it in the trash and said it’s on the house(What???). Then she had security come over to tell us we couldn’t sit there and to go to a table. We moved, then went back to the bar to order a drink. As we were telling her what we wanted, she walked away mid sentence and went to the back to talk to talk to a server, we watched the server come out to grab security. Then security came over to tell us we had to leave. Totally confused. We did nothing AT ALL. Even security didn’t understand why. He said he just had to do what she said because she’s his manager. He was nice and said something to her where she decided to come over and serve us. She spent her whole night ignoring us and going to every single person and making their drink but wouldn’t even make eye contact with us. We asked her for a second drink. But she wouldn’t acknowledge us and started stocking the bar and making other patrons drinks. Ask her for the third time. She makes it, then tells security that we need to finish our drinks and GET OUT NOW. What???? I have NEVER in my life been discriminated against. I say all of that to say that we were the only black people in the establishment and she showed us that she didn’t want us there from the moment we walked in. It was so bad that we started secretly recording it. Heather, YOU ARE A RACIST! I need to make a formal complaint because it’s been a week and I’m still so upset by the way we...
Read moreSecond time here. 1st visit .. I was alone the burger and beer was delicious and hot!
2nd visit. Myself and my two son . We put in our order, waitress goes to another table that sat while she got our drinks to get their order.
She puts in both table order after another. That's called harvesting in the industry. This is not right as it strains the kitchen with a burst of orders instead of a couple minutes in between table orders.
15 minutes pass
Bell rings when my order comes up ( can see it on the pass) hell yeah I thought! Well the waitress ignores it and cleans a table and then gets another drink order And puts that in.
Bell rings again she walks right by and closes out her other tables. And chats it up at the bar with no concern about the food dying in the window.
Bell rings again she proceeded to take the other tables food first then ours. Ok fine food looks great! But it's cold as ice. Cheese had already re congealed and the nice toasted bread was cold as well. Fries where cold and mushy. I tell the waitress, un bothered she says... oh the kitchen didn't have it all ready, but oh well I'll get you another loaded fries and Philly cheese. At this point I said... forget it. Because my boys already ate and I didn't feel like waiting 20+ more minutes.
No manager hit the table, no apology. Didn't even care...I could see the FOH team talking about it, but no table touch.
She picks up my card and has a cook bring my check back. Wow, first time I've ever experienced this. I've been an executive chef for 10 years and I would be upset if my team did this to a client. I paid my $39 dollar bill and left. The cooks do a great job. But your only as good as your weakest link. This FOH team and managers need proper training, it seemed like they were more worried about conversating that running...
