Papa Sammy's Pizza — Restaurant in Mount Holly

We ordered take out tonight to try it out and I was bummed about our experience. When I called they said 30-35 min, but we finally got our pizza at 55 min. The customer service was lacking - no greeting when we entered or a “I’ll be right with you” - instead I awkwardly stood there as a woman was taking care of another task behind the counter. After we paid she just walked away, so I figured we had to wait. 15 minutes later I finally asked if it was ready and she said they were waiting on the garlic knots. Thankfully there were some games around to entertain my toddlers, but I wish they would’ve told us when we paid “it’ll be another X minutes.” Another man waiting said he called ahead too and was frustrated with both the wait and the lack of communication. The pizza was a bit greasy which hurt my stomach and the toppings were minimal. The garlic knots had almost no flavor. I will say, the fried okra was phenomenal! Overall it was fine, I think better communication from the workers would help a lot. I prefer eating local, but sadly Domino’s has better quality...

Somehow, it wasn't open. I called a few times. Store hours clained they were open between 11am-8pm ?? No sign saying they would be back or opening shortly. I'm new to the area, so I'm a little confused. I know Covid-19 is happening. But there were no signs on the door or website indicating they were closed today.

Update: 2/16/2021 So the owner wrote me back saying his mother passed. That's fine. I can actually understand I lost my father last year during covid in June. That wasn't the point, and the response was unwarranted, unacceptable, and unprofessional. A better response would have been : Due to private family matters, we weren't open, but would reopen, etc. etc. That's fine. I don't have to patronize any place I don't want, and I sure as heck, am able to share MY opinion based on my experience. I will continue to patronize VIP Pizza. Thanks, and God...

I haven't eaten inside.. but the way they haven't setup they have games at each table the kids can play they can actually even learn fractions by pizzas which is very logical if you think about it but it's a very great atmosphere is family-owned everybody super nice I can't wait to actually bring my family down here and sit down and have a good time cuz it is a wonderful family atmosphere I would recommend it to anyone with kids or anyone at all but this is the second time I have got a Philly cheesesteak it's absolutely delicious the bread they make themselves and the bread is banging I love it I would recommend it to anybody it is absolutely delicious so if you haven't tried Papa Sammy's Pizza get them to Mount Holly and try one of their Philly cheesesteaks and as soon as I'm able to eat some of the pizzas I will let you know...
