Mama's Pizza Grille & Bistro — Restaurant in Mount Laurel Township

The only thing I can say positively about Mama's Pizza Grille & Bistro is the quality of the food. The food is fantastic and the only reason one should return to this restaurant. What really hurts the business is the owner, Giavanni. A friend of mine used to work for him and the stories my friend told me were unbelievable. First off, this man is rude, arrogant, disrespectful, racist, unprofessional and just plain rotten to some of his customers, but especially, his wait staff. He verbally abuses his employees by swearing, insulting, harassing and threatening them, sometimes, in front of the customers. The turnover of employees is so high due to the fact that most people cannot work under him for more than a day or two. He overwhelmingly underpays his overworked staff. I ordered 24 ($16.95 per menu) wings and a cheese-steak Stromboli ($12.95 per menu) on a Wednesday night for pick-up (total $35.75). The bad experience began with being over charged, in-addition to this, upon looking at the receipt charges of .50 for hot sauce, for the hot wings, was added. This is just ridiculous; the cheese-steak Stromboli was ultra greasy and the quality of the ingredients were very poor, especially for the price. The mozzarella cheese in the Stromboli was very bland, Stromboli lacked marinara sauce and I could hardly see or taste any of the "steak". The wings were advertised as naked (without bread) inclusive to the pictures on the menu. When I received them, they were LOADED with breading and red pepper seasoning, who does that!? Kathy (my wife) and I love Italian food and Mama's Pizza Grille & Bistro is our favorite Italian restaurant. We find ourselves grading all other Italian restaurants based on how they compare to Mama's Pizza Grille & Bistro. Recently we traveled to Italy sampling dozens of restaurants in Venice, Florence, and Rome. I know it sounds funny but we actually preferred Chef Giovanni's food to "Italy's" Italian food. We particularly love his calamari & linguine, spaghetti bolognese, chicken saltimbucca, bronzini, osso buco, as they are all delicious. And when we're not having a dinner, we'll order the pizza. While the ingredients are wonderful, their perfect crust "makes" the pizza. At Mama's, I guarantee you will rate the pizza as "best around" just as we do.
