Update 09/30/22 We stopped by for an early dinner, as we are leaving early in the morning to return to Florida. We were seated and presented a menu. The server asked for our drink order. I asked for a bottle of spring water, and he asked for unsweetened iced tea with extra ice. About 15 minutes later my husband asked where our drinks were. She loudly said "I gave you a glass of water!" About 10 minutes later hubs asked the manager to come over. Hubs asked where our food and drinks were. 2 other tables came after us, was served before us, and left before we even had our drinks. The mgr brought our drinks, and then food. The food order was wrong. I was almost in tears. I asked if we had somehow offended the server. Mgr said no and we were ok. Don't get me wrong. They have GREAT food. And you won't walk away hungry. The 2 previous servers we had were wonderful. Would I go again? Mmmmaybe. As long as that woman was not working. Bad choice of words. She wasn't working, she was just there. End of rant. My husband and I are in New Jersey for a funeral, but we're staying because of hurricane Ian is expected to pass over our home. So, we decided to try Budd Lake Diner. Wow! I think we struck gold!! I had the philly cheesesteak and fries. I asked for crispy fries just because I love the crunch. My husband had the western omelette with home fries. We were both pleasantly surprised. I food was cooked to perfection. And my sandwich was HUGE! I had to bring 1/2 back to the hotel room. I would not hesitate to eat their again. And the friendly staff was quite welcoming. They make you feel right at home. Well done...
Read moreOn November 11, 2023 at about 12:30 P.M., I visited Budd Lake Diner, in Budd Lake, New Jersey. There is a mid-sized parking lot available outside the diner. The cost of my meal was about $26 dollars. I walked in and I was greeted by the cashier, who took me to a booth for 2 people. The diner was small but still clean and there was enough spacing between the seats. The diner had an old-school and vintage ambiance, which I appreciate because for someone younger like myself it feels like I get to experience going back in time and enjoying what my parents enjoyed. The wait time for both the food and seating was not long, it was very quick and the food came out within about 10 minutes of ordering. My server started me off with drinks and I ordered a raspberry iced tea. The menu featured almost any kind of comfort food you could imagine, like pasta, all day breakfast, wraps, burgers, salads, etc. I ordered jalapeño poppers, and a margarita flatbread which came with a Caesar salad side. Both the appetizer and the flatbread exceeded my expectations. There is something available for everyone at Budd Lake Diner, such as for vegetarians like myself, as they have an extensive menu. This diner does accept credit cards but I am not sure if it accepts cash, but I would assume so because there is an ATM machine available. I would highly recommend anyone in the...
Read moreThe Budd Lake Diner is such a hidden gem of this community! I've been coming here prior to Covid and was never impressed to be honest. I recently learned that new owners took over and I can see the difference. Before Covid, the servers just seemed like they never wanted to be there, the food was mediocre at best, and it just seemed to be going downhill. Since learning that new owners (local family) took over, you can definitely tell. The servers seem to be happier to be there and are also in a good mood! The food has blown me away lately as well! Every time I dine in or take out, the food is always fresh and hot. My go to will always be the Drunken Nonna with curly fries, DELICIOUS! The cleanliness of the diner has improved since the new owners took over. Before Covid, it just seemed to be stuck in the past, but now, there is a complete 180. I personally met the new owners and have talked to them multiple times about the experiences I had before them and with them. They genuinely seemed happy to hear this. I've watched this team bust their butts during the business Sunday morning rush with grace and smiles. If you love a classic Jersey diner with a modern twist, the Budd Lake Diner is your...
