What an all-around fabulous experience!!! I read about BBB's grand opening today while on the local news website last night and thought it sounded perfect for my hubby & I to try out. Reading about chef John Currence's story and his dedication to delivering a high-quality breakfast really interested me.
As we are staying in Mt. Pleasant during our Charleston trip as it has more reasonably priced hotels, it was a quick 5 minute drive to get there. Walking in, we were immediately welcomed into an energetic, warm restaurant with all staff looking so welcoming.
We were seated immediately, and within a few minutes, we had our drinks with my hubby ordering fresh squeezed orange juice and I had a bloody mary that was just perfect. Our waitress Lexy was so sweet and helpful and even brought me a glass of ice water as a side with my drink which I greatly appreciated.
I chose the Huevos Ranchero Grit Bowl and my hubby ordered the Buiscuit & Gravy with a side of smoked sausage. OMG!!! With my first bite, I was blown away by the diverse flavors that just worked so well together! The creamy grits with a bit of over easy egg, guacamole, Pico de gallon, black beans, and yummy sausage capped off with some of the cilantro mojo & crispy tortilla....ahhhh HEAVEN!!!!! My hubby's meal was tasty as well and very classic biscuit & gravy and I really enjoyed snagging some of his smoked sausage😄
The attentiveness of staff is wonderful and truly felt cared about as we had several stop by to check in with us & to chat.
As we were heading out the door, I saw merch and just as the door was closing behind me, my eyes fell on a cookbook😮😮😮 I yanked my hubby back into the restaurant and over to the display where I happily snagged an autographed cookbook (a breakfast cookbook does NOT come around hardly at all and as I'm an avid cook & foodie), a mug in the heavy, crockery old diner style I love), and a bag of their Marsh Hen Mill corn grits. What a haul!!!!
As we were getting checked out & our stuff packed up, I was saying to my hubby that I wish I had gotten a coffee to go for our drive to the base when the waitress said I could go ahead a make a cup to go. I mean wow! What...
Read moreMe and husband..coming from Atlanta... first time in Charleston SC..we decided to try this location since it was close to our hotel. It was a lil'bit of a wait...but only maybe 20min...it didn't matter cuz when we were seated it was all good!!! Everyone that greeted us were personable, friendly and professional....once we were seated the young lady who helped us navigate the menu...Rochelle, answered all our questions and helped me make a decision between waffle or French toast...I have always been picky about my breakfast cuz it's my FAVORITE Meal...anyway..I could go on and on..bottom line...I decided to try French toast...when I tell you it was PERFECT..I like it a lil crispy on outside...it's hard to explain but anyone who likes French toast can understand. My breakfast and my husband's was excellent...I know, these days it's hard to say a meal you didn't prepare yourself was excellent. BTW, we are plant based and try to eat better as a rule...BBB didn't let us down. We had opportunity to speak with Julie( one of the owners) and she shared a bit of their vision and that this restaurant was coming to Atlanta!!! I would love to go on and on but I will stop here. Final words...our meals were excellent, the place welcoming, people friendly. If you can't tell by now we highly recommend this restaurant and staff and since we are only here for 2 days...we definitely will be returning on our future visits. Blessings!! Oh, this is the 1st time I have left a review about...
Read moreI'm bummed I didn't get a photo for reference, but this breakfast was super disappointing! We were recommended this place by our Uber driver while we were on vacation. Although the atmosphere is very unique and entertaining, the food was less than mediocre. And worst of all, OVERPRICED for tiny portions. Majority of the meals don't even come with sides, you need to buy sides for $5 a piece. Insane.
Food wise: we ordered the shrimp poboy, hash cake, single pancake, and chicken biscuit. The chicken biscuit was plain as hell and practically a slightly oversized chicken nugget on a stale biscuit. The shrimp poboy was underwhelming. Weird they pair it with tartar sauce and not remoulade sauce like a traditional southern poboy. The cornmeal breading around the shrimp was bland and falling off the shrimp. I doused the sandwich in table top Tabasco hot sauce for flavor. They threw on two thin wilted leaves of lettuce on it that gave it a very unappealing "McDonalds chicken" vibe to it. However, the bread on the poboy wasn't bad. Just sucks everything between the bread was underwhelming and cost me $20. The pancake was nothing special, butter actually tasted like eggs? Lol. The saving grace was hash cake which are two thick triangular hashbrowns, but not worth $5 alone. Someone on reddit said "avoid BBB at all costs, what you get is exactly in the name. A BIG. BAD. BREAKFAST "
If you're in the area, GO TO VICIOUS BISCUIT. It knocks this...
