Golden Bowl — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant

Caveat : I grew up in Seattle and was spoiled by the food in the restaurants in Seattle's Chinatown.

I ordered the steamed Broccoli with Tofu with brown sauce on the side, as well as steamed Pork Dumplings. ( I was told they only had Pork Dumplings ). The dumplings were excellent, though I wish they had other options such as vegetable.

I found the Broccoli and Tofu mediocre. There was far too much Tofu with Broccoli circling the stryfom bowl. One would be better off going to Whole Foods and choosing this combination from the hot bar.

Golden Bowl has a dine-in area much like a fast food restaurant. I suspect one would be happier with just getting take-out.

The people who work are very nice and I believe if they so choose there is potential to make this a better dining experience if the menu focused on what sells well here and put more heart into making some...

This place has me left to appreciate our home town Chinese joint all the more. I was excited to be back in Charleston for the weekend and after a long road trip we were famished to only come home with an incomplete order . My husband had to high tail it back in the rain storm to retrieve what they left out, which was an entire meal . The honey chicken was over cooked and drowning in a unthickened sauce . A couple sprigs of broccoli which were undercooked was floating in the sauce as well. The beef fried rice and the shrimp fried rice had zero veggies, zero shrimp and zero beef. The rice was all yellow and that’s it. It was a dollar extra to add the fried rice as well. Boooooo. No apologies were made for the trip back to get our food and nothing extra was offered . Let’s just say , I won’t order here again next time...

We went on New Year’s Eve around 5:30. On all other occasions when we pick up food there is no waiting so we were surprised at the large number of people picking up when we were. Kudos to the staff who tried their best and succeeded in getting everyones’s order. It did take a long time but that was expected when we saw there were at least 20 people picking up with more coming in every minute. Our food was delicious as it always is. Chicken and broccoli, fried veggie rice, egg rolls and lomein. I also want to commend all the customers who waited patiently without complaining. ...
