I saw this place on tiktok and decided to give it a try. I ordered something pretty simple but it slightly deviated from the menu. I still got a drink but it wasn’t anything spectacular and it seemed like people on tiktok really hyped up the “experience” of the place more than the coffee. I wasn’t really impressed with either. When I saw it again on tiktok, I left a comment saying pretty much what I just said above, and Harlow & Pearl took to tiktok themselves to leave a comment. Now I don’t know about you, but I believe we all have our personal preferences and for me, this place wasn’t mine. I’m new to the area, gave it a shot, and it wasn’t for me mostly because a lot of coffee shops can and will tailor to what you’re asking for if they have the flavor you’re asking for. Apparently they have a different process here, which I wasn’t aware of and wasn’t informed of when I bought my drink. I didn’t think much of it or the comment until this morning when I got a notification that Harlow & Pearl mentioned me on tiktok. The comment is below for you to read. As someone who tries to support small and locally owned, I always appreciated the experience of personalized customer service, but their comment suggested I was entitled for sharing my opinion? It seems like more and more small business owners nowadays want the perks of owning and operating their business their way, but feel like someone is entitled or asking for too much or simply can’t handle any type of negative feedback. I was raised under the concept that you grow from negative feedback and especially in a business setting, should use it constructively. But it doesn’t appear that they can do that. I don’t know if they were just having a bad day or what the problem is, but taking to tiktok to call someone entitled feels wildly...
Read moreWe saw this shop on TikTok and thought it looked cute. We happened to be in town for my nieces wedding this week so of course we made it a stop on our list. I had the Ube latte which was delicious ( my husband was mad at himself for not getting a coffee after he tasted it) my daughter had the chai tea latte and said it was one of the best she’s had. She loves the Tzo tea but the extra touches they added at Harlow and Pearl really elevated the flavor. My son wanted a frozen hot chocolate which I knew they wouldn’t have when he asked but the owner was so sweet and made him a special chocolate milk. The rest of my party all loved the drinks they got, so much so we all stopped again on wedding day to “get the bride a coffee” it was a Saturday so it was very busy and they were sold out of the latte I wanted but the latte I got was delicious. The owner was super sweet and accommodating saying upfront when we had to order something we hadn’t planned that if anyone didn’t like what they got she would happily remake it. She even gave us special charms for our wedding day cups. All in all this is a super cute spot with very very friendly staff. Keep in mind it’s a small spot inside a shop so it can get busy especially on...
Read moreMy vanilla latte was great, but I left feeling a little disappointed. I discovered this spot through TikTok and was genuinely excited to try one of their specialty drinks. I asked about the Tiramisu Latte, but was told it wasn’t available that day. No problem.
I then asked about a strawberry cold foam for my matcha, and was simply met with a flat “no.” Not a “we don’t have that, but we do offer XYZ,” or even a suggestion of an alternative. Being from out of town and visiting a new place, we hoped for a bit of guidance or hospitality — something like, “We don’t have the Tiramisu Latte today, but you might enjoy this instead.”
Unfortunately, we received no recommendations, no effort to help, and no sense of enthusiasm from the person working that morning. I walked in excited and left with an experience that felt pretty ordinary — definitely not the kind of warm, memorable visit we were hoping for.
While my latte was good, it’s something I could have easily gotten from any quality coffee shop. The service left much to be desired, and sadly, the magic I was expecting just...
