I came into pick up a order and as I walked in the door the young lady standing up front didn't even want to speak I had to greet her. Secondly I asked her after about 5-7 minutes if she could please check the wait time for the order and she answered with a mumble. So I asked her to repeat what she said and then she says she cant go check that if I wanted to leave I could. Then I went and asked the bartender how long the order would be. And asked where the manager is. He said on break and asked what's wrong I repeated the above statement and I left. Then I called the manager and she responds its a 16 year old hostess and I responded age has nothing to do with service. If you want a job and to get paid you have to speak when customers come in so that they can feel welcome. And I gathered that someone who works their hired her because she is possibly a relative and want to justify her standing at the door leaning on the counter twiddling her thumbs. When drivers come in we are representing our customers and communication is key and so is service. So the manager having a smart mouth and justifying isn't preparing her for the world of work. Restaurants shut down they are blessed to be open and if they can't service customers properly it will bring down service levels. And cause customers to go elsewhere but the mindset that we are beneath them as delivery drivers is a poor excuse. Customers deserve the same service to know what the delay is for the wait on food they...
Read moreWhen we arrived there were a few tables unoccupied. However, we were taken to the back of the restaurant, past an unoccupied table, around a corner and seated in an area alone with a few staff members sitting to the side eating and relaxing. I made a comment to my wife joking with her that they must have put her back here because she was Hispanic. So, then my wife orders a glass of wine. When the wine arrives and she tastes it, the wine had turned. This is not a major deal by itself, but this is not adding in a positive way to our experience. So, when the waiter comes back I told him about the wine and asked him why were were placed in the rear when there were several booths open in the front. I told home if we wanted to eat in seclusion we would have stayed home. His responded that "If you guys are going to be in a bad mood about it then we can move you". At this point my wife said she wanted to leave, I informed the waiter that we could pay for the wine, however, since it had turned I didn't think this would be fair. I told him to cancel the meal and I wanted to see a manager. He then disappeared and after waiting for a manager for another five minutes, to no avail, we left. If bad wine, condescension, and poor service are your thing, then I highly recommend this place but if you are looking for a better experience the you don't need to look far, try...
Read moreMy husband and I have made Coleman Public House a must-stop since 2012 when we take our yearly vacation to Mt. Pleasant. As soon as I walked into the door tonight it felt like a totally different Coleman than what we've been used to in the 9 years previous. I immediately told my husband that it felt like a change in ownership. Our waiter provided substandard service asking us if he had taken our order yet after having made us wait for an extended amount of time. Although he wasn't attentive and got my husband's drink order wrong, I could forgive the bad service experience. What I can't forgive is the quality of the overall experience for the money. The menu was completely changed from the original Coleman, no more flatbreads, etc. I ordered the Chicken Gyro and Parmesan Truffle fries and my husband ordered the Southwest Chicken Salad. The food was above average diner food - not the same quality that we had come to know and love from Coleman. The atmosphere was lacking, service was poor, and food was not Coleman quality. I am disappointed we wasted one of our nights eating here instead of at one of the numerous amazing restaurants the Charleston area offers. I don't know if they have truly changed ownership or just been hard hit by COVID, but this is definitely not the same Coleman with 4.5...
