Guys, i leave a LOT of good reviews for local spots and this is just really bad. Overpriced bland food. it’s hard to mess up a bacon egg and cheese but this place does. Independently of one another 2 of my local friends shared with me they were dissapointed in the food when they went there on different occasions than myself and choose not to go to this place. i asked for “extra cooked” bacon so it wasn’t super rubbery, when i got my meal the bacon was barely cooked— all good, a lot of people like it that way. I went to ask about it and the staff seemed immediately frustrated/on edge before i could even start talking and then was even more rude after i asked about it. maybe im imagining it, but it felt very very awkward and uncomfortable between the staff and myself. They “remade” it for me and gave me extremely burned shards of bacon on top of well cooked rubbery eggs (which were supposed to be runny in the middle) . this felt spiteful and very off putting. i should have taken a photo, but at this point i was annoyed and definitely felt talking to the staff would not go well. i threw it away and left. The cold brew drink as well felt like about 2oz of watery coffee and a ton of thick creamer for $8 . To their credit the barista gave me extra cold brew to add to my drink, which after adding it still was still extremely cream heavy and felt like not much coffee at all. Which is ok, some people like this but just not my preference. They served it in a very tall glass with a straw, even though it was topped with a THICK cold foam… was impossible to mix or sip from the glass, so i had to ask for a large pint glass to pour it into. This was my second experience here and will never go back. I encourage this company to not make guests feel like “karens” for simply having a request about crispy bacon at the ordering stand and following up on that request. When people pay $20 for an egg sandwhich and coffee it’s totally appropriate to simply want something they feel is edible that they inquired about ahead of time when ordering. Mishaps happen, i’m sure there was just a mix up and they gave someone else the crispier bacon. But the way it was handled just left a bad taste in my mouth. I also didn’t care for the food/ drinks (both times i visited) i’ve never had an issue at a restaurant with ordering bacon “extra crispy” but apparently this was too difficult or annoying for the staff to handle. I don’t mean to be overly harsh, i beleive feedback and reviews can help. great location...
Read moreThe food was really good!! Like really good! And for the price, the food is worth it. The alcoholic drinks were a little on the expensive side but they are really creative and it’s Charleston. You should expect that. Our actual server was really sweet and attentive. Overall dinning experience was good. However the hostess situation is a nightmare, and it looks like the hostess manager (maybe the girl wearing a yoga outfit?) is part of the problem. Most of what happened we were bystanders of, but I felt bad for these families with young children. 4 hostesses were present, which was a too many cooks in the kitchen situation. I get that some of them might have been training, but at one point there were a line of people and they were standing around talking. The one in the yoga outfit actually had her back to the people and was just gossiping away, while patrons were waiting. 20 minute wait for an outside table was no biggie, except there were 5 outside tables empty. I get that you have to have servers to wait those tables and all that, and that was not the problem. We were finally seated at the only table getting blasted by the sun, with 4 other empty tables in the shade. We watched that table sit empty for 15 minutes, along with three other ones. Could we not have already been seated?? We asked to move to another table not getting blasted by the sun, and were begrudgingly moved. Meanwhile that table sat empty for another ten minutes and then a family with two small, pale children were sat there. Remind you, 2 tables in the shade were still wide open. I just feel like there was poor management getting people to tables, and with an abundance of empty tables it’s not...
Read moreWe came in for lunch with a group of friends on Wednesday February 28th. We sat outside on three patio because one of our other guests had a dog. The service was quick and friendly especially for it being day two of service. I got the chipped cheese which was really good. It was very flavorful and rich. My wife got the Diner Club with a side of fruit. The side was above average in size and was very fresh. She said that her sandwich was delicious. She was unable to finish it so we took the other half to a friend who was bartending down the street.
I do have a few suggestions that do not affect my five star rating. When I ordered the chopped cheese I ordered it with no onions. I’m not allergic, I just don’t prefer them. My sandwich was delivered and I was told that the onions were pre mixed into the prep. As it turns out it wasn’t that big of a deal. However had I been allergic to them it would have been an issue. Finally there are a row of two top tables along a ledge/step down. There are two ladies dining at one of the tables and one of ladies stepped out of her table and fell dawn pretty hard and landed again one of the propane heaters. There is no marking on the ledge…..I realize common sense should prevail on the part of the patron but you know what they say about common sense. I’d suggest marking or reconfiguring.
