5 stars for 5 reasons. 1: I know this is Americanized Vietnamese food, but WOW it was delicious. I had the chicken stir fry with the coconut sauce. I can still taste it in my mind. And it wasn't ridiculously greasy to cause my stomach to ache either. It was perfect with three spice levels. I chose the middle "red" spice level. There are so many Asian style restraunts that don't stay true to original flavors from the country they claim to represent. Mi Xiao is excellent with hints of Vietnamese flavors. 2: The food was made in less than 7min. Super fast service. You can even dine in if you choose but it is a fast food take out place mainly so you can call ahead as well if you are looking to grab and go. 3: Super affordable. I split one stir fry with my wife and we spent under $10. Most of the meals on the menu are $10 which I am definitely willing to spend for quality. So many restaurants are great at lunch but so unaffordable at dinner. Mi Xiao is standard all day. 4: Portion size was great for the price. They give you a full portion which seems to be expected in the US but many places sacrifice portion with quality. This place stays true to both. 5: Owner is friendly and is making the food right in front of you and they are actually Vietnamese. Growing up in Tokyo, an intercultural hub, I really have an appreciation for roots. It just gives a place history and experience. Overall, I loved it and am sad I didn't find it earlier. We shall be back real...
Read moreMy number 1 issue is finding plastic wrap in my food.. the reason for the 1 star I work in food bev , don’t have Saran Wrap at my house I wouldn’t accuse unless I knew it was the restaurants doing. They need to post a menu, there website doesn’t work and the menu I used on Yelp was from 2016 and apparently the prices increased a couple dollars since. I went to place my order over the phone.. picked up my order got to my car didn’t see the dumplings I ordered, went inside and let them know and they told me they are in the bag, checked again and brought the bag in this time and they realized they gave me extra noodles instead of dumplings, they took back the noodles and I had to wait a bit for them to cook the dumplings, also didn’t get my side hoisin or sirachi. Overall food is eh, pho was bland with bland london broil.. dumplings are good though, but felt like It was pricey and they could have comped me or done something for having to wait so long after messing up the order and telling me it was in the bag. At least that what’s we do at my food and bev establishment. $20 for pho and dumplings and this experience definitely would take...
Read moreComing from the midwest where pho is a staple in my Asian community, and having pho in other parts of the country like Vegas, felt like the pho was nowhere close the traditional pho one would expect. Definitely lacked the traditional spices needed such as star anise, which also made the broth lacking in fragrance and taste. The broth leaned more towards a straight flatter beef and mildly ginger taste that didn't give it the depth or dimension of spice, hint of sweetness, to savory. For $15/bowl, also only had one cut of meat which appeared to be the flank. No other options such as meatball, tendon, tripe, etc. I was disappointed given high reviews as I was looking forward to comfort food in the area as my overall food experience in SC was lacking. Also missed a few important condiments for pho such as chili garlic oil. Service was friendly and fast. Dining area was very small. Enjoyed the kids menu options for a fair price. Unfortunately, pho didn't hit the soul so left feeling...
