I don't know why everyone is singing the praises of this restaurant. It's just another mediocre low-country restaurant who wants to make it seem like their themed and "different from other restaurants", but everything about them is pretty non-committal.
The food itself is reasonably priced and decently portioned. I even had enough leftovers for a full lunch the next day.
The milkshakes seemed enticing at first until I saw the prices. I'm not paying $10+ for a milkshake. They should be $5-$7 tops. Yes, I know that they're "well made and look nice", but getting a milkshake essentially doubles the price of your meal.
The restaurant was less than halfway filled (including people sitting outside and at the bar) and with more than enough waitstaff, yet at the same time it took an embarrassingly long time to even get some menus and drinks. After that, it took about ten more minutes of waiting before our server came back to get our orders for food.
I guess more than anything else I'm just confused with what was taking so long. There was seemingly an overabundance of employees and lack of costumers, yet every waiter and waitress was running around in a rush with nothing much getting done.
Again, the food was alright, but the desserts need to be cut in half price-wise. Management needs to improve or else this restaurant is going to go down the toilet with how confused and inefficient the employees were. Again, the individual servers are fine, this is a...
Read moreWoodward Tavern is a beloved spot among locals for watching golf, college football, or any other sport you might be interested in, especially when enjoying the time with friends. This charming spot has a welcoming atmosphere that almost encourages you to strike up a conversation and make new friends at the bar, even on a relaxed Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon. The staff is known for their friendliness, and the smash burgers are a highlight of the menu, consistently receiving good reviews. Mine was delicious and cooked perfectly.
Their house-made chips are actually really good and were crisp and cooked to perfection. The tavern's location right near the Isle of Palms is great for vacationers wanting a good burger just across the bridge. One of my favorite things was the enormous projector screen, it was great for viewing the olympics. The outdoor seating area looks like a great option when the weather is pleasant too. The high number of booths is another plus, especially since many places seem to be shifting to tables that aren't as comfortable. The drink selection is huge too, with a well-stocked full bar and skilled bartenders they'll make sure you’re entertained at the bar and if you came twice I feel like they'd treat you like an old friend. Overall it seems like a fantastic choice for a laid-back,...
Read moreUpdate: We visited again recently and the food was better this time. I was pleasantly surprised. We had a burger and a salad and they were both executed well. I’m increasing to 4 stars from 2. Hopefully any more visits will be similar.
(Original review) The staff was nice and the beer selection was decent. I'm a big fan of Crave and assumed that the burgers here may be on par with what crave serves. I'd like to say they were having a bad day but I won't be going back after the burger I was served. The meat was not porportioned to the bun. It was a small patty with a huge bun. I got the beer cheese which looked like cold nacho cheese that had some beer mixed in with it. It didn't taste good at all. My burger was also over cooked although I asked for medium. If you want a good burger go to Crave or Granary or any other place that does good burgers. I'm hopeful the burgers good better soon they just need a little more love. The bun...
