Gone for a long time. Loved it. Best food in town when there was 3 places to choose from. Lunch specials was really nice also. Sadly, IDK if the original owner died, or retired. Not seen for couple years. But once the kid took over the overall quality was a flux. Hot Sour soup would taste different from one time to the next. Might be ok, but taste enough to remember and notice. Prices also went up 2 dollars on lunch deals in the last 2-3 years. For 7 dollars, you can go to the buffet, get a drink for lunch time, and while not 7 bucks, is a better deal. Ordered on Christmas eve for 4 plus extra for the next day. Normally do it on Christmas day, but 2020 it was 90 bucks on a weekend, no deals. So got lunch deals on Xmas Eve. was like 70. Then when my daughter's b-day took place on 13th, they raised prices a dollar on specials, and even normal prices on other items. No regular customers did not told anything. No signs on doors at all. Went from like 65-70, to 90+ but under 100 for the same food order. I see some has had issues, where before the old man was gone; if there was a order issue of communication issue he would try to help fix it. But not now. Seen him blame the customer saying it is done by the order so they must have ordered wrong. I have ordered things, had them wrote down before they was called in, and showed up to pick up and not get it all. IDK how a wrote order before calling could equal to customer not ordering something. But I could easily see by the "old" menus on prices, via a calculator the price paid equals to the order. Sad. I used to prefer this place over majority of places within 40 miles. Now I will go to Lexington for Chinese, and try to pick a day they have less "American" offerings, like chicken feet, rooster cones, and xiao long bao. Some of the quality was ok to deal with. But while I know prices going up, there is no reason it should gone up like it did in 2 years. Hope they find their soul again in the food. And adjust prices to levels that makes sense for what is supposed to be lunch specials.
I do not know if you shall see this, but google does not have a reply option for a comment from a owner on a business. But if you do, I changed the star from 2, to a 1 based on your arrogant and rude reply in stating a defense in a manner to try and diminish my knowledge and intelligence. Being college educated, and studied classes in economics, I understand how supply and demand works. BUT.. The first hike came before the pandemic. The second came just as the new year took place. And no, other places in town have not taken prices up 2 dollars like you. Other in town locations has not risen prices as you have in 2 years. Also to even speak on gas, like it is the issue, when the prices have been this basic range for almost 2 decades, and also pointing out I pay more to go anywhere now only shows your attempt to reach for explanatory measures. But again, you arrogant and rude manner of saying "there are thinks I do not know. Check out the news" has so much sarcasm flowing; it only adds to my original remarks of how treatment of you and the business has changed. Customers makes mistakes. But, your attitude makes it clear that you and your employees shoulder no responsibility in your eyes for their mistakes. If I can go to a buffet for lunch for 10 bucks, eat any item they have, sushi, hibachi, specialties, ect. Then what would be the benefit to get a lunch special of one item, one egg roll, and a side of rice; fried or white for 8? It doesn't matter the time of prices change. It the amount. Also; you can make them what you want. If someone wants to pay then they will. But I am saying I do not see myself coming back do to it. But based on your response attitude, I don't know if I will again period. Because money was a issue, but the biggest one is and has been your behavior to customers. So next time, just apologize to the customer, and don't sound arrogant in responding defensively. I know at least this post has lost you 8 customers. How many more you willing to loose for behavior like...
Read moreThe food is good if the kids are not there cooking it. The past couple of time I've been the food wasn't as tasteful or cook correctly as it is when the adults or owner is there. The adult workers are wonderful and always good service and food from them. This last time was pitiful. The kids was working on this day...Normally we don't stand around for someone to take our order but I had to stand there for a good time before being acknowledged. I went to Kroger while I thought my food was being made and I was gone for 30 minutes and returned to them and food wasn't made. They didn't start working on it till I came back. I was hoping they had got started on it before I got back. It wasn't busy at this point so I was confused on to why they didn't start making my food till I got back and seen me. I think they forgot honestly that I placed an order. I sat there for another 10 minutes as they hurried and through my food together and didn't cook it all the way. I was a bit disappointing on how the food turned out. Not normal for me to ever get bad food here. It's good but like I said only when the owner and the adults are there that its really good and cooked well. The kids slack off and the food isn't made right nor does it taste the same. I'll only go eat there if the kids aren't there cooking it. Other than that the adult workers are wonderful and always good...
Read moreI have been a customer here since the place opened. It was never “the best” Chinese food, but it was what Mt. Sterling had for take out, I always enjoyed it. Over the years, certain menu items have been great, then not great, then great again. Again, no biggie, it’s what we had. I always knew that at least one part of my order was going to be excellent… The steamed dumplings! So many Chinese places steam up frozen store bought dumplings. Not China Wall. For years, they had these perfect, hand made, thick and juicy morsels of awesomeness that always made me happy. As of today, no more… I got frozen, store bought, limp, gross dumplings that don’t even come close to the originals. I am beyond disappointed… Every bite tastes like I’m downing a shot glass of sesame oil… Even after the severe increase in prices over the last few months, I told myself, “at least I can still afford dumplings…” NO MORE. Bring em back, and I’ll come back. Til then I’ll just shovel the garbage off the bar...
