I came inside to eat with my family for the first time and honestly was taken aback at the rudeness of the one of the patrons AND the employee taking food orders. It was definitely crowded, and there weren’t any places to sit after customers ordered their food.
An older-looking female customer directly in front of us in line berated my mother in law over the procedure of securing a table, because she thought we were breaking in line somehow. She could have simply said “you get a table after you’ve ordered your food”. Instead she stepped a little too close for our comfort up in my MILs personal space, and in a condescending manner, attempted to dress us down about trying to locate a table for our party of 8.
When she turned and placed her order, we overheard her and the employee talking about this whole situation, like we couldn’t hear everything they were saying. After she placed her order, she turned back around to us and said “look I wasn’t trying to be rude, but you just need to know this is how it works here.” Honestly, we just wanted this unhappy lady to get out of our faces about it all.
THEN, the younger female employee taking our order, instead of greeting us with a “hello” or a “welcome”, had the audacity to lead off with “apparently I need to get some things straight with y’all about how things work here”. She went on to explain that if a table hadn’t opened up when our food was brought out, we may just have to stand there to eat.
There’s a right way to give guests directions about your ordering process, but this wasn’t it. I have no patience with a condescending customer trying to dress down someone in my party, and I CERTAINLY won’t do business with any establishment whose employees will pile on the rudeness.
We ended up taking our party of 8 to Olexa’s where we had a delicious meal and excellent customer service.
Additionally, two members of our party routinely order out from Brick and Tin for their employees at work, but will never give this restaurant...
Read moreOur group of 3 went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The service was good. The mac n’ cheese was delicious. I’ve never had mushroom soup so I’m unsure how it’s supposed to taste, but it tasted like sautéed mushrooms were blended up and that was it. I love mushrooms, but this was not my fave. The chocolate bread pudding was AMAZING.
We also had the wildest experience of our life here and I just have to include it. A man and woman maybe on their third date were sitting very close next to us. Maximum 3feet away. Our conversation hit a lull as we were eating just in time to hear the man say “15 minutes before going to bed I put my top sheet in the freezer.” The woman had a very mild reaction. We were unsuccessful in hiding our laughter. If this man sees this we apologize. We were not trying to eves drop but heard you say something so unexpected and strange we didn’t know what to do. In your future endeavors, I would avoid discussing your frozen top sheet on a date. Just a...
Read moreHands down, the best lunch we’ve had in Birmingham. They use the freshest ingredients and make sure every dish is prepared just right - tasty and plentiful.
We could base our entire review on the exceptional service and friendly staff, but without a doubt the food is phenomenal. Fresh ingredients and well presented. The mushroom soup had to have been the best we’ve eaten, the salads and sandwiches are top tier.
Suzie Q, which is smoked turkey, fresh ricotta, lettuce, sprouts and roasted sweet peppers has become one of our favorite sandwiches when we stop in for a lunch; and the Autumn Vegetable Salad with butternut squash, roasted mushrooms, pecans, and a soft boiled egg over greens a great Go-To salad. Both dishes were flavorful and perfectly balanced.
This restaurant exceeded all our expectations. You do not often find a place where every element comes together so perfectly. I’ll be recommending it to all our...
