I was very torn on how best to leave this review. Jade Grille has VERY good food, and I have never had a bad experience with them until yesterday. Had this been a review left on any normal day I'd likely give them a 4 or 5 star review, so please keep that in mind.
I ordered by phone with them yesterday however, and it was Valentines Day. The day being what it was, I knew that they would be busy, so when they told me 90 minute wait for delivery I was 100% fine with this. I placed my order at 6:30 PM.
My food did not arrive until 9:45 PM.
I called them at 8:15 to check and see where my order was, and I was told then that it had just been put into the car to be delivered. I asked then if it would be another 20 minutes or so, and was told that no, it would likely be longer than that. They apologized and explained that they were slammed. I understood.
So I thought perhaps 30-45 minutes more. That seemed reasonable enough.
I called again at 9:17 when the food hadn't yet arrived. I got further apologies and simply told that it was on the way.
After waiting for three hours the food did finally arrive and looked nice. I had ordered sushi and some eel bowls, and while there wasn't much to have 'hot', the eel was barely room temperature, leaning closer to the cool end.
It was a very disappointing meal that was then hurriedly eaten before going to bed. While it was tasty, I would have appreciated them either not taking my order at all, or being called to warn about the severe delay so I can assess whether or not to cancel. I do understand that ordering on a 'holiday' is always a risk, but I would have liked some better customer service if their quoted time was an impossible feat, and I would not have held that against them.
So yeah, I would always recommend this as a place to eat, but don't order delivery from them...
Read moreFrom start to finish Jade Grille was a wonderful experience. You enter through double doors to an inviting restaurant, warmly lit and decorating and a welcoming manner. We were promptly seated in a large and comfortable table with a booth backing. Our waitress felt like a friend giving advice on what dishes she enjoyed best, and what sake was best paired with-all with no pretense and no judgement in my lack of knowledge of sake (haha). The portions are huge, which we did not realize initially- but the size was happy surprise since my order of the Spices Chili Pot, my husband's Sichuan Spicy Fish Filet Pot and our mutual order of the braised chicken hand pulled noodles were all delicious.
In Short:
The Spices Chili Pot reminds me of autumn somehow. Whether there is a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg in the sauce maybe, or possibly that my family used to make something with similar spices in the Fall- in short it is delicious and properly spicy.
The Sichuan Fish Fillet was un-expected, not at all fishy, yet still lighter like a seafood dish. It also still came with a heat that one expects from a traditional but it was not so hot as to require a drink of water with every bite. It was the star of our meal.
The braised noodle soup tasted like a chicken noodle, but the noodles were deliciously chewy and held up well next to the spice of the rest of the meal and the broth they were served in.
Word of warning: Like stated before, the portions are huge. We have enough left over to feed us for multiple meals- so be warned if you are thinking of ordering large quantities.
This review does not do justice to the excellent service and cuisine we received. The service was impeccable and accessible, the food was delectable and the experience was relaxing and inviting. We will definitely be making Jade Grille a regular...
Read moreWhile visiting the area for work I came here as I saw they had authentic Szechuan dishes on their menu. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the décor is unlike most other Chinese restaurants, as it’s really nice inside. I started with their egg drop soup, which was tasty, with a hint of sesame oil. Next up was their spicy garlic cucumbers, which had a nice kick to them, but weren’t spicy. The cucumbers were fresh and there were a lot in the bowl; they tasted even better with a splash of Kikoman on them!
The next thing I had was their scallion pancakes – They were the proper thickness and offered a nice crips. The scallion flavor in them was prevalent and they were really good, especially with the black garlic vinegar dipping sauce.
Entrée was their cumin beef, with fried rice. The fried rice had egg, but no veggies and it tasted good. The cumin beef was pretty decent, but far from the best flavor of cumin dry wok’d Szechuan food I’ve ever enjoyed. The veggies were sliced too big and so was the garlic; I prefer thinly sliced garlic, it works so much better in the wok and then tastes great, but bigger chunks of garlic aren’t very good in this dish. The beef was tender though. Wasn’t very spicy, not as spicy as I’m used to from this dish.
Overall, I really enjoyed the food and experience here and...
