Just a bit dissapointing.
I found that the menu at this place sounded promising, I liked the options. However this kitchen suffers from the execution of these ideas.
First off, staff was nice and welcoming, even for a pickup order.
However, all of the food was pretty much just sad. I found that the Cheese Steak meat was not thinly sliced. In fact it wasn't sliced at all, it was closer to a finely chopped ground beef consistency, this leads to a horrible mouth feel and an overly packed sandwich. The cheese was also just put ontop rather than mixed with the meat after cooking, or even on the bun, resulting in a sandwich that tasted mostly like a ground beef sandwich.
I found that the old bay fries themselves were a bit flimsy and the fries themselves tasted bad and frozen (worse than store bought) had no seasoning, they rely on the cheese sauce for their seasoning (Which has old bay mixed in), which was just a bit dissapointing because even though it's conceptually creative, the cheese sauce also doesn't really taste like much either.
Funnily enough the sandwich had so little cheese i literally had to dip my sandwich in the cheese sauce for the fries.
I also got an order of chicken tenders which may have been some of the lamest chicken tenders I have ever eaten, they are the most tasteless bland chicken tenders that 100% went straight from the freezer to the fryer.
For such a cool location, interior and branding this buisness needs to step it up, please respond to this if y'all fix your game because I'd come back in a heartbeat, berks needs a cheese steak place with the spirit of...
Read moreIf I could give this place a 0 stars I would. I went to pick up an order up for them to deliver it. Knowing I was driving 28 minutes to deliver I wanted to use their restrooms. They had a sign on the door saying customer use only ask for a key. I asked for the key and they asked if I was a customer. I replied that I was picking up and just needed to use the bathroom before picking up. You would think that they’d care about the people who are helping them make money. They gave me the order but not the bathroom key. I got upset and asked again. They said bathrooms are for customers only. They also claimed that the drivers were making a mess of their bathroom. I’d love to see proof of that. Part of owning a business is bathroom maintenance. Any single person could go in and make a mess not sure how that makes any sense. When they could see I was getting visibly upset one of the gentleman tried to give me the key. At that point I said no thank you. I’ve heard so many people speak so highly of Spenny’s and was looking forward to trying it when I was out that way with the family as we love supporting small businesses in our free time. However after that interaction we will not be returning nor will I take any orders from there again. I hope you take this as a learning lesson. A little bit of compassion could’ve greatly helped...
Read moreI was really looking forward to trying this place because I’m from Philadelphia and I came across it as I was looking for places to eat on DoorDash. I looked up their Instagram and it’s very “Philly coded” which I loved. So I ordered a chicken cheesesteak for myself and chicken fingers for my 3 year old. My cheesesteak didn’t have ANY cheese. Like there wasn’t melted cheese at the top or the bottom or even all throughout. Just chicken grilled onions and dry bread. I also asked for mayo. I was really craving this because I needed a little taste of home and I was extremely disappointed. When I called I asked to speak to a manager and the lady said she can take a manager and no one is there then I expressed how I just ordered and needed to speak with a supervisor or something I just wanted to give some feedback thats all because this was my first time ordering and then the manager came to the phone. She was very polite and expressed her apologies and said she would watch whoever puts the cheese on the sandwiches so they won’t mess up anyone else’s orders. I expected mine to look like the Instagram page🥹 I had to add my own cheese, ketchup and mayo. I do want to try it again because I understand mistakes happen but I hope you all represent Philadelphia better because that was NOT a...
