We have eaten here many times in the almost twenty years since they opened, (originally Babes restaurant). Until recently we have ordered burgers, sandwiches, breakfast and various ethnic dinners. Food and service has been ‘just’ adequate for a typical Greek place, but no complaints about cleanliness, prices or atmosphere until our last and I do mean our last as in final visit ever. What changed to elicit this decision? Glad you asked. On our final dinning experience I decided to order a steak (porterhouse) even though my wife suggested not to because they aren’t a steak house. I ordered it anyway because at $18.95 for 16oz., I thought it could be mediocre like everything else here but still be a reasonably good deal for that price. I could not have been more mistaken and disappointed. After trying to cut into this piece of medium rare meat in several places with the provided steak knife and struggling to do so, it became obvious I was served a piece of boot leather. I sent it back without having one bite and declined to have another to replace it because everyone else in our party would be finished before then. Mike the owner came over to inform me that it was a black angus steak and there was nothing wrong with it. He indicated that I don’t know how to cut a steak properly. Really? I’m 66 years old and have cut and consumed more then my share of steaks both good a few bad, but only this inedible one to date. Most of their meals come with choice of potato, soup or salad, a glass of wine or beer and a desert. I ate the salad because it comes before the meal as always. When we got the check it included that salad and all the drinks we ordered, a salad that is all iceberg lettuce and little else, their cost probably less then $1.00. I didn’t expect to be compt for anything but neither did I expect this. I told them how foolish this was because we had several drinks each which helps their bottom line for that table and in addition were losing repeat customers over a cheap salad. Even after bringing this to their attention they would not back down. A definite case of being penny wise and...
Read moreI would leave zero stars, if it was possible. We went to Blue Bay for Mother's Day breakfast. After waiting for 40 minutes, with only the first offering of beverages, the waitress returns to our table to tell ius that our order isn't ready that the staff "lost the ticket". Okay, how does that happen?? (Meanwhile, people who sat after us are already getting their food.) Needless to say, when we got our food, it was terrible. Only one of our entrees, the pancakes, were cooked properly. The cheese and mushroom omelet was greasy, the skillet was undercooked and veggies in it were cold, as were the hash browns. Toast was barely warm when it was brought to the table. After returning a third time to the table, the waitress says that our bill has been reduced to $35 from $62. The kicker here is that as we're paying the bill, we're asked how was everything. My sister calmly tells him it was not good, and as she's talking to him another waitress, completely unrelated to our table, starts to eavesdrop. As my sister is talking, the man wearing a sweatshirt for an establishment we won't be going to (Babe's Pizza and Chicken Mukwonago), tells her "to calm down ". She was calm, he just didn't want people waiting for a table to hear what she was saying. What??? Who does that??? She proceeded to tell him that they were done, the conversation was over. Horrible customer service! It was understandable that there was going to be a wait, which there really wasn't since we were seated quickly but to "lose a ticket" (read: forgot to put our order in), is completely unacceptable. To be dismissed and told to calm down when, though we were unhappy with the situation but not loud or agitated, is equally unacceptable. We used to get carry out from here quite a bit, after this, we won't...
Read moreI’ve been to this place at least 4 times now, 3 out of the 4 I was by myself. I gave it two stars because of the one good experience I had with one waitress, a really nice and kindhearted older woman. My other experiences being there have been ok, but today was the icing on the cake for me. The waitress I had started off good but quickly dropped the ball on the service. Again, I know I was by myself, but being a worker in the same industry, solo mates are probably some of the easiest people to take care of. Today was a slower Wednesday morning, I was her only table for most of my duration there. It seemed like as soon as my order was in and delivered I did not exist as a customer there. The only time she checked on me was to give me the bill almost literally after she dropped off my food. I did not finish my meal and would have liked a box but she never came back to ask me how my food was (us real servers/bartenders call that a 2 bite-2 minuet check back) or even offer a box. After I kindly stacked my plates and proceeded to pay up front, there she was all of a sudden. If you have ever worked in the restaurant industry, we take care of each other (stacking/clearing plates, cups, tips...) so her tip would have been way more (of course I still tipped even with bad service) than what it was but being a former manager of a restaurant, the service was...
