HotBox Pizza — Restaurant in Muncie

Have I frequented this establishment for years (on an almost weekly basis) because I'm sad, or because it's so good that I just "forget" that I don't have money?

My guess both.

Hotbox taught me that spinach is the best pizza topping, and I can confirm that they also have the best spinach of all pizza places, so order your spinach pizzas here. Add some pineapples of you're feeling nasty. (I meant to you're fancy, but that works to)

Am I ok? Probably. My wish is that my Google reviews become at least a small part of my legacy some day. Maybe my only legacy.

They also have really good cheese sticks. When I was a sparky and naive freshman, my first impression of the breadsticks was that they were too salty, but I'm older and wiser now and I can say that they're actually pretty good (even better when fresh).

Running out of things to say, but if I stop, I'll have to go back to finishing this 2020 of a semester at here at Ball State, which reminds me: bonus points for being so geographically convenient. Nothing beats a 15 minute walk at 3am, except a 30 minute walk at 3am, but there's pizza.

My one complaint is that you get tootsie rolls with each order, which is actually a little heartwarming, and they taste pretty good, too. The problem is that I've decided to arbitrarily hate tootsie rolls anyway, so it feels personal. (I'm sure they'd be left out if I just asked for no tootsie rolls, but then I wouldn't be able to complain or gift them to people who'll take them)

Yes it's my longest review ever. No I don't have anything better to be doing right now.

10/10 Would go again, and by "would go again" I mean will probably go there tomorrow to try this macaroni and cheese...

I haven't had Hot Box in years, partly due to there being no location in my hometown of Greenwood, but I moved up to Muncie in September and we just now got Hot Box pizza and I have to say thank you! I love pizza, but since I had my surgery and have restrictive dietary demands I haven't been able to eat pizza much. I got the Hippie crust, since I was told whole grain would be better and I was shocked when it still tasted really good, had a great texture and overall the whole pizza, breadsticks and all hasn't upset my stomach. It's also really cool you get a reusable cup if you get a drink to go with delivery and all of the crust seems to be vegan. I love it. Also delivery was early ! I'm a patient person and I don't ever mind waiting, but it was a really nice surprise to have pizza earlier than expected. Driver was super nice and the person that spoke to my boyfriend about their dietary friendly options yesterday when he said I was nervous to try to eat pizza again was so nice. Came in at 10:44 on a Friday 12/29/23 to bring my mother in for the first time, the gentleman working tonight at the counter was so kind and helpful, the pizza was great, i had the Pesto Mambo with extra cheese and add chicken, fantastic pizza, however, right when we sat down this girl working, short haired mixed girl, immediately starting aggressively stacking the chairs right next to where we were sitting, and then i quote told us “can you guys grab your stuff and leave, theres tables outside and im closing by myself”, keep in mind its 35 degrees and raining. it’s friday, you guys close at 4am, and mentioned you were closing early because kids were home from school and wow what a joke of an employee, only reason i’m giving 3 stars and instead of one is because the guy working the counter was awesome and the pizza is great.. please get rid of this employee, for the love of god i've never had anyone treat me like that at a restaurant before.
