Yats — Restaurant in Muncie

I walked in to this full restaurant today. They had one 19yr old girl working. She was responsible for their entire restaurant. I know it’s difficult to get good employees now (this girl was FABULOUS! & I had to ask her if she was working all by herself), however - this is not safe for the employee. Probably not looked upon fondly by their insurance either. When I called one of the owners, he ended up telling me his staff “request short staffing” to increase the tips they need to rely on to live. Unbelievable but true stuff. I have the text. I hate(!) that this is the case for so many young kids, and others, being exploited by their bosses (aka “the man” & they are all men, ironically). What kind of stress must that be to know there’s only you that’s keeping the whole place open? She was greeting, cooking, answering phone, packaging togo orders, and cashing customers out. She should be making $40/hr for all that + benefits…but yet they don’t even believe she’s worth minimum wage. I won’t patronize this...

I see a lot of good reviews. I don't believe any of these people have ever eaten real Cajun/creole food . Eating in a fast food restaurant isn't Cajun... but we try. Today I think I had some of the worst food I have ever eaten . I've traveled the world and have many experiences good and not so good. An unfortunate experience is part of trying something/someplace new. I've traveled throughout much of Cajun country and worked among real cajun/ creole people. Their food was great that's why I try the unknown. I know now and Yats isn't it. For you who think it's all that...you have a real treat when you get the real deal. Service and the staff were more than helpful recommending what they though I would like. Thanks but Cajun/creole doesn't come out if a bag. I cannot express how much i going to yats to get food. It seems every time i go into the building there’s a sweet girl named Austen working. She has the best attitude and her customer service is remarkable. She is super sweet and helpful in suggesting how to make my meal better. A few times I’ve noticed (like today) that she then goes and makes the food herself after taking the order. Her ability to multitask while still smiling under what seemed a busy situation she handled all on her own was impressive. The food she served to me was absolutely delicious and fresh. If she doesn’t already, she should own this business because she does her job so well and should be recognized as the great employee she tends to be time and time again when i have come in! Great...
