Puerto Vallarta-Tillotson — Restaurant in Muncie

Pretty good food and decent service. Definitely one of the better Mexican places in town (Casa del Sol is worth checking out as well). Good portion sizes. Maybe I'm picky, but there are a few small complaints. When they give tomato with your meal, it's just a slice of tomato, not diced. For every dish. Kinda annoying as someone who likes tomato that I have to cut up my tomato to actually eat it with my meal when they could dice them up beforehand and save everyone the trouble. Their food tends to be over-sauced and/or wet. Not pleasant to bite into your burrito, only to have a puddle pour onto your plate. Draining the better meat before serving would be a big benefit. Also, the quesadillas aren't what you'd expect, they're basically just a soft taco, and don't hold together at all (maybe that's a more traditional Mexican style, but not my preference). There has been a chicken bone in a shredded chicken dish, which they told us might happen, after my girlfriend almost choked on it. Would've been nice to know beforehand. Service can be hit or miss, but is generally good. Most servers speak pretty good english, but there has been a time or two when communication was difficult with less fluent staff. Drink specials aren't a considerable discount, but my friends and I still go there somewhat frequently for margaritas. Free chips and salsa - good salsa at that - is a pretty nice bonus.

DO NOT GO HERE. They are extremely rude and unsanitary. Here were my 2 and ONLY 2 experiences.

1. 2 months ago I went because it was so hyped up, and after I ate my meal with some friends, I noticed a clipped piece of fingernail in my salsa. Touched it after the server said it was just onion.. and it was hard like keratin. It had gunk under it. We complained, and the manager smirked and said to his cashier "charge them anyway". My friend who was paying decided to pay anyway. At the same time, The cashier next to us told her consumer that they were taking way too long to pay. It was an older lady!! How dare them.

2. I went back today because my classmates from my surgical program wanted to go for our hour lunch. The server was nice and made sure our food was correct and all, drinks were refilled BUT When we went to pay, I was the last to pay and she told me that one of my classmates failed to tell Her they got queso on their food (an extra 1.50 maybe) and said that we were required to pay it. None of us even got cheese sauce on top, and they can't force one of us to pay for food we didn't get, but she went ahead and charged my card anyway!! They are so awful rude.

Some other things they do that seems awfully wrong include the following: They have a freaking sign that says "we are not responsible for wrong to-go orders. Check your own orders before leaving". What? How can they not care about their own orders. This place is garbage In...

This was a huge place more then enough room to find a seat on a super busy Friday night. There was not a second wait in a line we were seated right away. Again it was suoer super busy and the wait staff had large areas to cover. Pro's I tell you, the wait staff were pro's. Our waitress was able to be patient while we decided what we wanted to eat she came back three or four times in a very timely manner not too soon not too long to check to see if we were ready once we were ready she took our order and got it to the kitchen she was a very sweet waitress had a smile on her face was very bubbly and happy she was covering several tables and she made sure that her customers including us had full beverages and make sure that we were doing fine she was a superstar of a waitress the food was to die for I had what they called the volcano it was amazing and I'm still wondering how the food stayed so hot in that bowl and continue to boil and boil again the food was amazing it was an overcooked it was undercooked the flavors were great the portions were very large and the price was just right this is one of the best restaurants I've been in in Muncie Indiana and if no one has been there I highly recommend it was a great evening we left satisfied and I still had money in my pocket thanks staff you done a great job highly...
