Barrio Burrito Bar — Restaurant in Murfreesboro

We've been to Barrio Burrito Bar a few times, and while the food is decent, the experience has consistently been impacted by long wait times and staffing issues. Typically, there only seems to be one or two people working, and one person in particular appears to be handling nearly everything — greeting customers, taking orders (both at the bar and drive-through), making the food, and ringing people out. That’s simply too much for one person, and it causes significant delays.

On our most recent visit, someone from the back did come out to help, which was appreciated, but the overall process was still slow. Additionally, the pricing on the menu is a bit misleading — it shows the starting price, but any additions (even basic toppings) raise the cost fairly quickly. For example, a basic bowl with beans and cheese starts at $9.49, and adding toppings bumps that price up more than expected, especially considering the portion sizes.

When comparing value, the bowls and burritos are smaller and more expensive than Chipotle, and the quesadillas are smaller and pricier than what you'd find at places like Zaxby’s.

Overall, we want to support local spots, but between the long wait times and the value for the price, it’s hard to fully recommend. Leaning toward 2.5 stars, but rounding up to...

This place was amazing! My wife and I were coming from Franklin about a week ago when we saw this restaurant and we're always down to try the new places in Murfreesboro. So today we went in, my wife had a bowl and of course I went for the XL burrito and let me tell you! I was beyond impressed, from the employee taking our order who was very helpful as it was our first time. She told us her favorites as well as what other people would order. This place had fresh veggies, the chicken and steak were delicious! I also ordered the extreme fries and I couldn’t have found a better batch of fries if I wanted to! My wife enjoyed her bowl, she compared it to Chipotle, if that doesn’t tell you how good this place is, then I don’t know what will. We also have a 1 year old and if you know babies, then you know they don’t care for much outside of nuggets and fries with ketchup. They made our baby a cheese only quesadilla(which isn’t on the menu) and he enjoyed that along with a few bites of my burrito! Overall this place is amazing! My wife and I took advantage of the $5.99 burrito on the grand opening this past Monday. The line was to the door when I walked in. And the line most definitely grew while I was waiting for my food, but it was grand opening and this was very expected :)

The staff appeared to be prepared for us. They had a great assembly line going and everyone was all smiles and communicating with each other and the customers to get us taken care of in a timely manor. All their efforts did not go unnoticed 😁

My wife got the crunchy chicken burrito and I got the carnitas. I’m sorry I forgot to snap pictures but they are huge!!!

I devoured mine in one sitting and was very full afterwards. I probably should of saved the other half for lunch the next day 🤣

My wife made hers into two meals and she told me it was just as delicious the next day.

We also got the kids churros which they loved and basically just ate the churros then drank the chocolate syrup rather than dip the churros hahahaha.
