Have not been a frequent guest of this restaurant but I will never be back after the events that took place this past Saturday night. We ordered our food and drinks. Most of the guests waited 15 minutes for drinks but 30 minutes later they decided to bring me my Sweet T. I feel like they were short handed and I feel like everyone understood that. 45 minutes later they brought out the food. Each of the 6 in our party ordered some sort of beef and it was ICE COLD. The chicken and shrimp were cooked just fine. We ask to speak to the manager. She came out and basically told everyone at the table that we were lying and that no one had cold food under her watch. She went to the back and brought back some chef. He started speaking roughly and the lady manager yelled at the top of her lungs "YOU'VE HAD IT OUT FOR US SINCE YOU WALKED IN' when in fact there was no complaint made until we asked to speak to the manager. "IF YOU DON'T PAY FOR YOUR FOOD, WE WILL CALL THE AUTHORITIES" when in the fact the only statement made by the party I was with was that we didn't feel like it was right to be charged for ICE COLD beef. She started yelling louder about not being perfect and going off. They then brought 6 to go boxes and slammed them on the table and basically said that if we didn't like it, to go home and warm it up. The only "adjustment" to the bill was for free cokes and a 10% discount. Everyone paid 20 dollars a piece for some food to take home and warm up. Needless to say that the lady manager was EXTREMELY unprofessional. We will NEVER be back to this restaurant as...
Read moreAs someone who has been to several other hibachi restaurants, this place was honestly disappointing. The number one reason that you would want to go to a hibachi restaurant, a fun show with everyone participating, just doesn't happen here. If you have never been to another hibachi restaurants, you probably will not care, but for the price they charge, it's hard to say it's worth going considering similarly priced places are much more enjoyable. The entertainment I am talking about are games like catching small pieces of food in your mouth, sake being sprayed into your mouth and seeing how long you can go (these are more fun than I am describing), elaborate cooking tricks, and even letting you go up and try the same cooking tricks. Without all of these things, watching someone cook your meal is a bit boring and takes away from the experience.
The food we were served was okay. It was cooked well but mostly just seasoned with yum yum sauce making it pretty one note. Inclusion of miran and/or sake with fish sauce (all things used at other places) would have definitely improved the flavor.
The service was good. The accompanying waitress was nice and fulfilled all of our requests.
Overall, the food isn't bad but unless they improve the entertainment part of their show, I would go elsewhere if you want the full experience...
Read moreMy daughter and I decided to have some sushi before dropping her off at MSU. We entered and the guy seating us asked if hibachi bar was ok - I told him that is fine, we weren't interested in hibachi, we came for sushi. He seated us, and a server with trainee came over to take our drink order. We got our drinks, and ordered our sushi choices. The server stated that it is expected that if we sit at the hibachi table, that we order hibachi. I replied to her what we had stated before being seated. She left and returned and said the guy explained to us how the hibachi table worked. My daughter and I both explained to the server that no such conversation happened. The server then sent the guy who seated us over, and he started to say he explained it, before I stopped him and repeated verbatim what I had said and even his reactionary reply. He did the whole Japanese bow and apology and essentially said it was the rules to sit there ... the problem is - they had no other location in the restaurant open in which to be seated to eat. To make things more interesting, there was not another customer in the restaurant besides us. So he would rather not serve us and make money. I wish he had not dishonored the Japanese culture with some fake apology. We went a block away to Jasmine and got...
