Cathay Chinese Food — Restaurant in Murrieta

Having just moved here, my family and I are not quite knowledgeable on the good eating spots yet. We were in the mood for some Chinese Food and saw that Cathay Chinese Food wasn't to far away from our home and could deliver. We saw that the reviews weren't too bad and decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately, it was not very good. The chicken sides (spicy garlic chicken, and jalapeño chicken) were pretty good at 3.5/5, even though my son said he couldn't taste the difference between the two and thought they had given us the same chicken for both. The BBQ pork on the other hand was a solid 1/5. It was dry, chewy, and tasted old. The noodles were soft enough but had almost no taste. The only other item that was pretty good was the fried rice. Other then that we were extremely disappointed. We will not be ordering or eating from here again. Maybe we just got a bad/old batch. Either way wish this restaurant nothing...

I rarely do reviews, especially bad ones, but I’m making an exception for this place! We got take out from here for Valentine’s Day - big mistake! It has 4 stars so I thought it was safe to give it a try. Should have taken the time to read individual reviews. This was by far the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had! Ordered three different chicken entrees - orange, teriyaki, and spicy garlic - all tasted the same. The bbq pork was extremely dry, tasted like it had been reheated more than once or sat around way too long. I specified a time to pick it up, got there 15 minutes early and expected to wait but it was already all boxed up so it was cold when we got home (even though we live literally 5 minutes away). Ended up throwing most of it out....

The food was not that good. I was expecting 4 star but it wasn't. I got orange chicken, jalapeno chicken, and chow mein for $12. I thought I box would be stuffed like Chinese places normally do but it wasn't. They serve their food like they work for Chipotle. You can barely taste any orange flavor on the orange chicke and the chow mein was pale. I couldn't really find anything good to say. It was just underwhelming. I only put 1 star because I wanted to balance out the overall rating. Really it was...
