I used to love this location, so I revisited it after a hiatus due to a few bad experiences 3 years ago in hopes it had improved. It has definitely gotten worse. We were 1 of 7 occupied tables during the nearly 2 hours we were there. Our loaf of banana bread was cold, it took 35 minutes to get drinks, and refills came few and far in between. I ordered the biscuit bowl and it was exactly as pictured (within reason), and absolutely delicious. 10/10 would order again. My boyfriend ordered the turkey dinner. This used to be a favorite of mine. The plate came out with lumps of what appeared to be instant dry stuffing mix in otherwise soggy stuffing. Same for the mashed potatoes. The turkey on top was in thin strips, not slices, as though they'd taken slices and cut them into strips to spread across the top. There was a scant drizzle of watery gravy in a circle over the entire plate, cranberry sauce included. We asked for a side of gravy 3x, and the dinner roll that was included. 25min later we received the roll. Never got the gravy. My boyfriend's son ordered chicken strips with fries. He wasn't very hungry and wanted something small. His chicken strips were rock hard outside, mush in the middle like they weren't fully cooked. His fries were half burnt, half soggy, like they'd been cooked and then dropped in the fryer again to reheat. Hes worked in food service off and on for 5 years and was livid with the poor service, poor food quality, and the fact that we never received the honey mustard we also asked for 4x. Even though our server came to our table numerous times to check on us and chat but then disappeared until coming back to chat again.... sans food, sides, beverages, etc. We asked her, and 2 other servers, not once, but 3 times to speak to a manager - WE VERY RARELY DO THIS! We have all 3 worked in food service, and our moms did as well. We understand bad days. We are 20% tippers, typically 15%on bad service. We finally went to the front to speak to a manager, who was very rude and told us they weigh each portion of Turkey (not even our complaint - and he started with that before we even voiced our issues so... apparently that was a thing?), and we literally just wanted to ask that the cold, gummy, day old banana bread and the MOLDY pumpkin bread, and the reese's pie my stepson never got despite asking twice, and his raw chicken strips be taken off our order. We would gladly pay for the Turkey dinner, my delicious breakfast, and the fries my stepson ate, as well as our beverages. The manager argued with us, despite showing him the obviously undercooked chicken fingers, despite explaining we'd asked numerous times to speak to a manager and waited 45 minutes for a manager AND OUR CHECK so we couldn't even leave, and it turned into a fiasco like I've never had to deal with in a restaurant before. He actually said he was going to get the general manager. The waitstaff at the counter looked at one another and said "but hes the manager?", before he returned with what was obviously just a waitress who started cursing at us, dropping f bombs and telling us to get the f out and never return, because she was calling the cops since we just wanted a free meal. . . While we were offering to pay for all but about $9 worth of food - some of which we never even received. Having worked in restaurants, managing 2 restaurants, I can tell you I would have comped the requested items, knocked 50% off the remaining bill, apologized and given a $20 gift certificate for a return visit to show this isnt standard service for the establishment and made a repeat customer out of this situation. NOT called the police over raw chicken strips and moldy pumpkin bread. I can assure you, this was absolutely our last time at Bob Evans, and judging by the empty establishment on a Saturday afternoon - I dont imagine them staying open for many years to come. Sad. I remember waiting in line for a table on an average Tuesday evening as a child 25 years ago at the...
Read moreThis was on August 3rd, 2021 This was my review for this particular Bob Evans. Those of you who REALLY know me knows this one hurts....
"Let me first say I love Bob Evans. They are my UNDISPUTED favorite place to go for breakfast. That hasn't changed. I also want to state that I do work in the restaurant business and understand the challenges many of the restaurants are currently facing. I make it a point to be more patient, understanding, and appreciative of those who come to work. That is why this is an "EXTREMELY" difficult review to write.
We were looking forward to going to Bob Evans for brunch today. It was storming, there were numerous breakfast places closer to our location, but chose to drive an extra 6 miles because we love Bob Evans! However, this particular location didn't feel the same way about me and my family. We came in and the hostess wasn't in the front. I chalked that up to being short staffed which I could understand. A cashier walked by and said nothing, the hostess came and stared at us without any acknowledgment, another cashier walked by, and stared at us and said NOTHING as well!. This happened for at least 10 minutes until we decided to walk out.
The first thing you are suppose to do is ACKNOWLEDGE the customer, even if you are busy. At least that is what I do. "Hello, thanks for coming to _, someone would be with you shortly" Something like that would have sufficed. Needless to say the next time we are at Myrtle Beach we will not go to that location"

Follow up to Bob Evans post: I haven't heard back from anyone. I even did a follow up just in case, and still no response.
This leaves me no other choice but to break ties with Bob Evans. Those who really know me knows this is a true gut shot.
Bob Evans is usually my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice for breakfast/brunch. I don't eat any other brand of sausage, to me Bob Evans sausage is "THE STANDARD", there is no other brands. My short list for breakfast when I do eat it is "DRAMATICALLY" shorter now.
As much as I love Bob Evans, I love myself and my family more. So the decree is set "NO MORE BOB EVANS of any sort in the Grimes...house.
It has now been 3 years and I have still have not heard back from the managers or Bob...
Read moreWe've ordered the same meal, Fork-Tender PotRoast Family Meal w/corn & mashed potatoes for the past 2 1/2 years every single time we come to MB. We were extremely disappointed, to say the least, this time (8/3/23). The corn & potatoes were were as cold as if they had been pulled from the cooler, dinner rolls tasted stale; we could only eat a little piece off the top of each on, and the Fork-Tender Pot Roast was just slightly warm; more like room temp (warmer outside than any of our food, including roast). We look forward to getting this exact order here because the BE back home usually isn't as good as what we normally get from here. The chocolate chunk cookies were good. It was a delivery order, but it wasn't the dasher. We were watching his travel route the entire time (and how long he had to wait there for our order), and it was delivered straight to us with no drive delays. In addition, we ordered an hour before dinner rush traffic! Regardless of not sitting in the restaurant to eat, disappointed is a polite term. I wrestled with even sharing this concern, but I noticed several similar reviews from a seated reviews from dinners a couple of weeks ago and by families throughout the past several months months ago and I don't want to have anyone else have the same problem. Hopefully bringing this issue to light, it will help. I fear I have lost my favorite meal when we visit MB, which is rather often, and 95% of the time our Pot Roast Tenderloin family meal was what I enjoyed most (other than the sunrises & sunsets). I'm not giving up hope, it might just take a while before I can convince myself or family to have it as a meal here on our next several trips. 😔 Thank goodness we ordered takeout breakfast the first morning we were here and we had no problems with that order. The bacon was cooked to perfection that morning. Yes, we normally order from there several times while here; delivered or carryout on the way back to the condo. This was by far the most devastating problem we have ever had from this BE. Small issues will happen. People are human. But this was a catastrophe that felt as though we spent about $90 on a meal left over in the cooler from the night before and was never even attempted to heat ready for...
