My family and I dined at the bar on 11/3 Courtney and Chris were behind the bar and provided us with excellent service they deserve 5 stars. This review is based on our experience with our food and the manager Austin. We ordered 3 filets (2 6ozs and 1 8oz) all medium and all 3 came out rare or medium rare at best. The servers and manager also agreed and acknowledged they were under cooked. We said -No big deal, it happens. The manager came over and apologized and said that they would be out shortly. 10 minutes later Austin came back over and told us they were all now over cooked and he apologized and said he had his executive chef on the new ones and how incredibly sorry they were and that they would make it right and that the bill would be taken care of as well. We were very appreciative of that and again understood. We were offered new sides of shrimp, mashed potatoes, baked potato and broccoli along with the new filets so that we would have a fresh hot meal. I declined and said we just needed new filets; all the sides would go to waste. Our new filets came out about 15 minutes later and they were cooked perfectly. Then the bill came and what went from “taken care of the bill” was all of the food rang back in “to account for inventory” - again I understand this. However the sides and shrimp that we turned down were also on this bill and we were charged the tax on everything. When I tried to explain this to management he said he had to account for his inventory and we were charged for our beverages and all the other dinner items were “taken care of”. My husbands 8 oz filet was actually the same one he returned with the cut down the middle and it was rang in twice. Our 2 6oz filets and shrimp were now 4 6oz filets and shrimp. I didn’t expect a comped dinner at all. I expected just remade steaks. But when we waited over an hour for filets with an empty restaurant and management comes over to tell you how sorry they are and they’re gonna make it right and take care of it but then handed a bill for $95.00 and over $50 of it’s is taxes on food that we didn’t order or the company was supposed to take care of… that wasn’t right. The servers got Austin again to explain that we were being charged the tax on all the inventory he entered - he talked over me and said “I’ll force more money off the bill”. I could feel his aggravation with me but I was expecting a “taken care of bill” because that’s what we were told. I wanted to make him understand the way he “took care of it” was not right and to account for inventory the check should have been split, the guest shouldn’t see the items rang back in (and NOT served them) along with not making the guest pay for the taxes. The servers again apologized for our entire experience. We were confused and had I not scrutinized the bill I would have paid the $50 in taxes. If you’re not familiar with Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle the taxes are high. The items left on our bill equaled $45.50 but the total I was being asked to pay was $95.+ The amount isn’t the issue for us. We have dined at many Ruth Chris locations and we are aware of the price and we don’t mind paying it because it’s a great experience with amazing food and service. This experience was not like...
Read moreTHIS IS WORTH READING!!! First I would like to start by saying I do not give bad reviews unless it is warranted and this experience was. I have frequented Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse all over the United States and in Aruba, all have been good experiences. However visiting the Myrtle Beach location has left me never wanting to return. We were a party of seven (4 adults 3 kids) First my 3 year old daughter gets her filet and it is rare when it was supposed to be medium well. They take it back no harm no foul. But when the adults meals come we are short my husbands filet. So we all start eating waiting for his steak. My husbands steak does not come out until we are all done with our meals. When it does come it is also rare and he requested medium. They take it back and we ask for a manager. The general manager comes out a woman I believe her name is Erin, and makes the waiter apologize and basically blame himself for not putting the order in. The whole situation was uncomfortable and seemed very unprofessional. She took no ownership. When she left we expected the steak would be taken off the bill. The bill comes and what do you know the steak is still on there - they took $25 off!! I actually paid the bill before realizing it so I ask the waiter to get the manager again. Apparently the general manager is too busy and doesn’t want to deal with it so she sends out the store manager JT. This gentleman was beyond rude and dismissive to my mother. He began to be combative and state she was only taking $25 off and it is what it is. After I began to speak to him and argue back and forth, and told him how we have been there for 2 1/2 hours and we want the steak taking off he grabbed the slip and our card and stormed off. He came back didn’t say a word and just dropped it off. The whole experience was pathetic. The management needs to go 100%. They do not care about customers or their employees. Also found out that their steak isn’t even USDA Prime. If you want a good steak and great service, you need to go to New York Prime...
Read moreI wanted to have a memorable dinner with my wife, instead we had an expensive, very forgettable one. Ruth Chris is a franchise, not unlike Outback, but instead Ruth Chris wants you to believe they are a high end steakhouse by over charging for everything, but in reality it is just mediocre food at a very high price point. Based on my experience: $16 Grey Goose martini, an average drink but was a full inch short from the top of my glass. Would have failed bartender school standards. $22 Calamari, was very good, lightly breaded and flash fried. Asian chili sauce nicely accented the dish; however, the same can be found in the area for about $14. $13 Seafood Gumbo, where was the seafood? Counted maybe three shrimp; worst of all, was so over salted it was inedible. We sent it back to the kitchen. $15 Chopped Salad, egregiously bad. Tasted as if the kitchen threw a bunch of vegetables into a blender and called it a salad. Hard to tell what was actually on the plate. What type of dressing? Hard to tell. $14 Lyonnaise Potatoes. Basic potatoes with butter and onion. Hard to justify a $14 price point, other than everything needs to be expensive to fit the business model. $68 Ribeye. Yes it was a well cooked, flavorful steak. But $68 worth? Not even close. I could and have, bought a Prime Cowboy Ribeye from Walmart; seasoned with kosher salt and pepper; cooked it in my cast iron skillet with olive oil and it came out better for under $25. And that is God's honest truth. And best of all to put a bow on this travesty of a meal: $12 Creme Brulee, we ordered to go. Not sure why the kitchen thought it was a good idea to pack in a cardboard box. The photo below was what we opened when we got home. If our tab was $150, I would not have been so critical; however when it is $300 you expect more and standards need to be higher. I could not imagine ever going back to any Ruth Chris. Instead I will take my high end business elsewhere and if I want a good meal at a good price I will go to Outback. I HIGHLY recommend others...
