I like visiting Steak'n'Shakes when I'm in a region where they operate, but this one will be an exception going forward.
Visited twice, once on my way into town and again on my departure and both experiences were sub par.
Service: on the first visit, I watched a pilot order a caffé au lait (there's a co-located coffee shop) and recieve a screwed up face and rude query by the cashier questioning what that was - not a big deal by itself - but when the pilot took the high ground by describing it and saying something to the effect of "whatever it's called", the cashier snarkily replied "that's called a coffee with milk."
Quality: I ordered a Frisco Melt on both visits; a sandwich that is advertised right on their board as having two patties and both times received only one patty on mine.
Value: Airport food is expensive, I get it, but this place costs at least double what it costs in a stand-alone store (despite only including half the meat on the sandwiches). Additionally, for whatever reason, you can't order only a sandwich, you MUST get fries with your meal. Asking for no fries gets you just the sandwich for the same price as a...
Read moreFirst time ever going to the restaurant, my fiancee and I went through the drive through. She had the regular cheeseburger and I the Frisco Melt meal. Based on ravings of a friend of mine, I expected a good experience. The menu photo makes the Frisco Melt looks piled high with goodies. In reality the "goodies" looked to be no thicker than if I had made a grilled cheese sandwich. Literally, less than a quarter inch separated the two pieces of grilled white bread. Overall taste was unremarkable. The cheeseburger was way off-kilter and, when opened, just looked sad and lacking effort. The fries were luke warm at best.
Even McDonald's has shown that it is possible to make a burger in their stores that reasonably resembles what is represented on the sign. The fact that what I received was so visually unappealing, and the taste so non-descript, leads me to believe that perhaps Steak n Shake isn't what it used to be.
There is a Five Guys not far from here. If I want a good burger, I'll just go there. You...
Read moreFast service and pretty typical location. Staff is friendly and polite. A little busy but we only waited about 10 minutes before being seated. Once seated our drink order was taken promptly. After a few minutes we were brought our beverages and the server took our food order. While waiting for the meal our server came and refilled our drinks without asking which was nice and attentive. Our food arrived and was prepared as ordered. Food was hot and appeared fresh. Everything tasted fine for a steak and shake location. Server came with another round of refills and asked if we wanted any desert. She then brought our check at the end of the meal. We waited in line a few minutes to pay but had to leave so we left payment and tip on the table. No complaints. Pretty normal location. I would...
