We showed up at 530 for a 530 reservation. We were seated at the closest table to the outdoor area, which was accessed by a large garage door. It was 49 degrees when we showed up. The outdoor space had space heaters already. The indoor space had no heaters. We immediately asked for the corner table away from the garage door that let all the outdoor air from the skating rink into restaurant. The waiter was kind enough to offer a thick blanket to my lady. They had lots of blankets available for indoor guests. The manager brought over a heater to put by our feet, which was powerful enough to heat my lady's big toe if she put her open toed shoe 3 inches from the heater. Our food arrived at 6:40, over an hour after we ordered it, and it was ALL lukewarm at best, including my so-called medium filet which was clearly rare. The best part of the evening was that my lady's wine glass stayed chilled, since it was 47 degrees outside, with that outside air happy to make its way throughout the restaurant to the guests, who mostly had parkas and other winter gear on. Even the asparagus and freshly torched potatoes au gratin were barely warm. My girfriend went to considerable effort to wear a beautiful dress, only to have it covered up by their ridiculous blankets making her look like Miss Claus for Christmas. The waiter, Anthony, was quite nice, and he did offer 30% off after sensing our disgust. Pictures are of my girl's ridiculous blanket over her amazing dress, just to keep warm, also the plastic eucalyptus plant decoration, my so-called medium filet, and the gigantic garage door to the outside letting in 47 degree air to the restaurant while the people dining on the patio had plenty of space heaters. Also my girl trying to warm her big toe with with handy Easy Bake Oven sized heater.

I very much enjoyed my dinner at Ember Steak while staying at the Mertiage Resort. I reserved a table ahead of time on a Friday for 730, and the restaurant was busy enough that it seemed like a good idea. We were greeted warmly and met very friendly service throughout our meal. Our server, Jack, was great, attentive despite the full house, and prompt to our needs. Started with a old fashion cocktail and a glass of Silverado Vineyards cabernet for the lady love, both of which were very tasty. Began our meal with the beef carpaccio ceaser salad a tasty worth a try. Then the ribeye with the "Oscar" accouterment, which was a crab meat with asparagus. Our steak was cooked to our liking, and the meat was a very fine steak with excellent flavor. Along with our main, we ordered the Parker House rolls (so good) and the potato pave. Everything was delicious save for the potato pave, which we thought was lacking some flavor. We ended with a glass of port and some ice cream dessert. Overall , I definitely recommend this place. Great for an intimate dinner or bring a group and order the Tomahawk steak. They also have a selection of aged cuts, which sounded amazing. If you are staying at the resort, you should definitely eat here, and if you are in town, give them a call to see if there's a free table.

Anthony made our experience here memorable. He made us feel welcome and very attentive to our needs from the beginning to the end! 5 star rating for service. The best dish hands down was the Whole roasted confit maitake mushroom, even as a side we felt it outshined the tomahawk steak we ordered. Tomahawk steak was pretty good, asked for medium rare and came out perfectly at the ends but, definitely rare in the center (we asked if the cooks could cook that part up a little more and when it came back it was medium--understandable since it was already sliced up). Don't bother with paying for the side sauces -- they're not that good. I ended up eating a bad oyster and had a rough night after which was unfortunate. We also enjoyed the cocktails.

This past weekend, my husband, our best couple friends, and I had the pleasure of dining at Ember, and it was nothing short of spectacular. We traveled from Texas and New York, and the experience was worth every mile!

From the moment we arrived, Kevin, our server, impressed us with his exceptional service. His friendly demeanor, extensive menu knowledge, and impeccable timing kept our glasses never empty.

A highlight of the evening was when the Chef personally came to introduce himself—such a rare and thoughtful touch these days! Andre, the Assistant F&B Director, recommended a fantastic wine that perfectly complemented our meal and made sure we were well cared for throughout the evening.

We indulged in a variety of dishes—from sashimi and sushi rolls to porterhouse, mac & cheese, and potatoes—and every single item was cooked to perfection. The service was attentive yet relaxed, allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed.

Our experience at Ember was truly memorable, and we look forward to returning the next time we’re in California. A heartfelt thank you to Kevin, Andre, and the Chef for making our...
