Just opened late July 2017. A Nepalese restaurant but really cute with a bar you can eat on (which we used - we like to chat with other people). We were welcomed with a delicious papadam with dipping sauce served by a very friendly Nepalese gentleman (Gyalzen). Great menu including also Indian dishes. We started with Vegetable Samosas that came with two sauces - tamarin and solantro. Very fresh taste, nice crisp crust with no grease at all. We followed that with Veggie Momo that came with two sauces: hot and medium, hot definitely hot! but both with complex flavors. Big dish and we boxed up half of the 8 dumplings. We then ordered the Tandoori - my wife the Tikka, I took the Rack of Lamb. Fresh grilled taste (served on a hot sizzling plate with onions and bell peppers and some spinach on top adding an extra element of freshness). Also very big servings - had to box up half so we'll eat same tomorrow.... The wine list is very reasonable priced - we started with a glass of Cava and enjoyed a Honig Sauvignon Blanc (both crisp & dry), both less than $10. But then, as the restaurant is very new, a wine sales person came by to pitch her selection of wines. The person she was selling to (Pemba, I think he may be the owner) shared with us her wines to taste. We each got a glass of a wonderful Cote de Provence Rose that Pemba says he would be adding to his wine list. Very generous of Pemba as with all these wine tasting we did not order any more wine. We did order a desert "Kalfi" which tasted like a delicious fresh frozen mango desert - milk based - with fresh strawberries. Pemba surprised us with serving us each a complimentary glass of Prosecco that the wine lady was pitching to him and it paired great with the desert but would not be a replacement for the dry Cava to start a dinner event with. Such a great experience! Highly...
Read moreThe BEST food in Napa - I never leave a review, and I had to go online after my experience with The Yak & Yeti. There are a couple of reasons I was compelled to do so: (1) The food - it is by far the best Momos (dumplings) and pakora (fried vegetable fritters) in the Bay Area. Their sauces are divine, and it is one of those places where your favorite sauce is the last one you tried! One aspect of their food that can be totally missed is the artistry in which they create and plate their foods. The way they sealed their Momos should be appreciated and can be easily overlooked. (2) The authenticity - I have been to Nepal and Northern India, and even to Dharamshala (where Tibetans live in exhile). This food was perfectly authentic and reminiscent of the food I've eaten there. If you're ever wondering what Nepalese food tastes like, try the Yak & Yeti. (3) The service -- my girlfriend is vegetarian, and upon our order, the owner asked if we were vegetarian or vegan, so that he could help tailor our order to our eating preferences. He's very thoughtful, very warm and very kind! (4) The price -- not all good food is expensive, and this is certainly an example. While Napa has many fine-dining restaurants, the Yak & Yeti provides a valuable alternative while being...
Read moreSo I came in today to pick up an order to go from this place as a door dash driver. When hand my order by the server working today I asked for eating utensils to go to where I was told that they do not have any or provide any. I explained that I was delivering to business a lot and how do they expect their customers to eat their tiki masala without utensils. I was then rudely told it's not their problem to provide their customer with a way to eat but mine. Door dash barely pays as it is and now I'm supposed to come out of pocket to deliver for this restraint? I think not. The rude server then aggressively came at me demanding I give him the food back, a door dash order already paid for, and reach out trying to take my dasher bag. I can't speak for the food as I've never eaten here but I can tell you that the way I was treated for asking for a way for their customer to eat the food they order. Guarantee I will never eat here now and hope to never pick up here again. Horrible...
