Food: Ordered the Bone Marrow Street Tacos. Completely unique experience! After speaking with our waiter, I was convinced. The bone marrow has a thick jelly consistency, so while you could scoop it, and eat it in chunks with the steak and toppings piled on top - I smashed the bone marrow with my fork so that it was well mixed on the corn tortillas paired on the side. The texture is not noticeable with the meat when prepared this way. In regards to taste, it's hardly noticeable but does make the taco drip and noticeably greasy. Best to eat over your plate in this case. Overall, I would recommend this dish to others just for the experience alone alongside the collagen benefits. For the appetizer, my table ordered the Mexican pizza, meat on the side, which has the base of a hard tortilla shell. It's a light snack at best, essentially just large chips with dip on it already. Not a huge hit at the table. I would pass on it and try a different item next time. As for the drink, I ordered a Paloma, as recommended by our waiter. The grapefruit juice in it made it very refreshing and covered any taste of alcohol in it.
Service: Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu items when inquired about it and made great recommendations when asked about what he liked alongside popular items. He checked on our table several times to make sure we had everything we needed in addition to our thoughts on the food. I always appreciate an attentive waiter, and we definitely had one. He's a keeper.
Atmosphere: As for the restaurant setting, it has so much decor with pops of color and patterns. It's very esthetically pleasing throughout. It'd be very difficult to take a photo with a displeasing backdrop here. And as many know, the women's bathroom is quite the comedy show with the male speaking mannequin inside! Quite a...
Read moreWe were a party of two. The host sat us at a two top in between two parties of 6. It was so claustrophobic and loud that we could not have a conversation whatsoever. I asked the host to reseat us in a spot with fewer people and a table we could sit side by side. The table she brought us to was good because it was against the wall so it was a little quieter on our side. But our server had a six top table of four top table and two parties of 16 so he took our order and helped show us the menu, but when we needed help, I had to ask somebody who was busing tables or another server to give assistance. The food was just OK. I had no idea that the chicken fajitas would be dark meat and two of my six pieces of meat were not chewable, the veggies were plentiful, but extremely oily, and thankfully the shrimp were good. I did not like how the tortillas came so tightly rolled up once you unrolled them they all got cold right away when trying to get one out of the wrapper once the tortillas were cold they were not good anymore. The salsa was very, very good a bit salty but full of so much goodness and the chips were hot and delicious, however, once the chips cooled off, they were not very good anymore. I felt bad for our server because he was very much over sat by the host staff. My daughter had quesadillas and we ordered the side of beans à la carte. We each had a bottle of Mexican Coke and the server did offer us classes of ice to go with which was nice. $4! Was a lot to pay for each Coke though. The decorations in the theme of the restaurant were very fun. The talking man in the bathroom made us laugh, and we enjoyed all the colors and the artsy things on the walls. I am not sure if I will return. I don't believe that our two meals...
Read moreMy best friend and I visited Fat Rosie's of Naperville yesterday for our birthdays which are super close together. We told our waitress we were there celebrating and she kind of brushed it off. She took our order and we specifically asked her if the steak fajitas would feed two people and she replied, it'll make 4 fajitas. So my friend and I decided to order 1 order of the fajitas so we could each have 2 fajitas.
The chips and salsa came out (chips seem to have changed since the last time I was there--not as good anymore) and we were never brought water. We were so thirsty waiting for our drinks but no one noticed. The food finally came and the meat portion wasn't enough to make 4 fajitas even if we only put 2 little strips of meat on each.
We called the manager over to look at the portion we were served and explained what the server had told us. Instead of seeing what we were pointing out we were given a generic response and told that if we wanted more meat that we'd have to pay for it.
We just wanted to have enough to eat 2 fajitas each so we felt like there was no other choice but to agree to pay for more meat. After we were done eating the server brought out our check, completely forgetting that we told her we were celebrating our birthdays.
I had told my best friend how you guys bring out big sombreros and you put them in the birthday girl/boy and sing to them. NONE of that was done for us, we felt like they purposely "forgot" that because we had an issue with our food. :(
It's a shame because we've always liked going to Rosie's in the past but I don't think we'll be going back after our...
