My family booked a private (or at least semi-private) party in the back room for a surprise birthday for my brother. My sister-in-law worked with Char who gave her a tour of the room and told us we could come as early as 10:30am to set up our decor – because we were allowed to decorate. I arrived at 4 to start setting up. I was greeted by Michelle who was very polite and kind. She took me to what was not the private room but just a section of the restaurant that the GM apparently decided to put us in (literally a hallway). I didn’t know any better since I hadn’t seen the original room, so I started decorating. The GM then came to tell me “You have until 8pm sharp – I have reservations.” Mind you, my brother wasn’t arriving until 645, so now we have a 1-hr party? I replied that’s not right, Char told us we could stay late. He said that’s not going to happen and walked away. Our waitress, Jennifer, was amazing to work with, then began helping me decorate. We accidentally knocked over a glass that broke, it happens. The GM now decides it’s okay to say “AND THIS IS WHY WE DONT DECORATE” to his staff, right in front of me. It was humiliating and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable (regardless of the THOUSANDS OF $ we were paying). I kept decorating, but now I’m angry/stressed because now where will we move the party at 8? Now guests start showing up, I already told this miserable GM that we were covering all drinks, no shots – he had a problem with that too. They went to the bar and just got their own drinks. My SIL arrived and got cards for the taps to pass out to our guests. We have 50 people in this area he shoved us in and now he’s yelling to get out of the way of the taps so other guests can get to them – YOU put us here, where should we go? We go to the bar, away from our own party. Now the waitress with blue hair. I have never met someone so rude. As we’re standing there, she starts shoving us, yelling “MOVE,” and being incredibly disrespectful. I can go on with how terrible she was. Sorry, I think a restaurant wants to be full on a Saturday night. Now it’s 20 minutes before my brother arrives, and someone points out that you can see the party from the sidewalk (bc we weren’t in the back room), so I asked Michelle if we could close the blinds temporarily so it wouldn’t be ruined. She said yes and tried to help me, but they wouldn’t go down. Here comes the GM barking at me that they don’t stay down. I asked if someone could hold them for just 5 seconds so it doesn’t ruin the surprise? He rolls his eyes at me with no response and just stares at me. I finally said forget it and walked away. Now I’ve had enough of him and wanted to cancel the party and move it elsewhere. The surprise happens, now we can relax, right? Wrong. Every guest came to me asking what his problem was because he was rude to them, including the other waitress. I don’t know if he hates women, or if he only puts on the customer service act when someone is paying, but when my brother gave him his credit card to charge thousands of dollars, he became a very different person. He was so respectful, my jaw dropped. It was comical. Later on, one of our guests was cut off, and no one even knew. My dad, brother, and I were together when he came over screaming/threatening us that he was going to kick us out if he saw us give her a sip. We didn’t know what he was talking about. No one was giving her drinks, and he was threatening us. He even threatened my 72-year-old dad, which was UNBELIEVABLE. She left and went next door, and we had enough disrespect, so we told everyone to go with her. I was going to clean up our decor and leave everything spotless, but honestly, I was ready to just get out. I felt terrible for Jennifer, who had to handle our party of 50 people on her own. I kept thanking her for doing such a great job. I want to make it clear that this extremely negative review is in no way a reflection of Michelle or Jennifer – this is 100% on the GM (and the random waitress). It was gut-wrenching to pay for...
Read moreWent with my bff on a girls night out and we’ve been seeing ads for the marg flights for a while, so we were so excited to try this place!
When you first go in, you put down a credit card and they give you this plastic card (credit card shape) with a QR code on the back that you use to order from (or u can order from ur server) and u use it to pour drinks from the taps. Really cool concept - I’ve never seen that anywhere else and I liked it more than I thought I would.
We ordered the margarita flight and, overall, we liked trying the variety, but wouldn’t do this next time.
Classic - this was by far the best. Great balance of liquor. Strawberry Basil - Very good but a little strong Blueberry - The sugar on the rim was soo bad! The drink was okay after a few sips but I just couldn’t drink anymore Passion Fruit - No my favorite and it was soo strong.
Don’t get me wrong I love a strong drink, but for a cocktail I would’ve liked more balance in some of the drinks. Also - I think these would’ve been better will salt on all the rims.
For the tap, we tried the sangria and summerly raspberry wheat drinks and they were okay! I’ve had better sangrias tbh but the raspberry wheat was good.
Now to the food…
For apps we shared the fried cauliflower bites and they were delicious! They were coated in a batter and came with dips on the side (we asked for one of all flavors to try) 10/10!
We both got the street tacos and they were delicious! But the tacos were tiny and only had one tortilla shell so it was hard not to break them when picking them up. Rice was not authentic Mexican style but still good. 6/10
We were still hungry so we got an order of steak nachos. Good but a little too spicy! The sauce is spicy, Guac was spicy and there were jalapeños so I would’ve preferred a better balance.
Our service was great overall, but one thing I really disliked was the size of the water glass. You get a tiny water glass and it’s kinda annoying to have to ask 10x for it to be refilled. It would’ve been nice to have a water pitcher of some sort at the table so we didn’t have to ask again so many times.
Also, I think it’s a great place to try once or twice but it’s a little pricy for the portion size you get. I’ll include my receipt copy and photos so you can decide if you think it’s “fair”, but I was just expecting a little more - mainly for the tacos size for the tacos and...
Read moreAbout a month ago myself and about 14 other friends went here for my birthday dinner. I always have a miserable birthday so I thought; just go to dinner. I’ve been here with my husband before for brunch and it was a great experience and the food was good(although this was a few years back).
We come in and I was a little off put by the hostess, but thought she might have been training and with so many coming in, a little overwhelmed so I left it alone.
We all get drinks and I explain how the tapers work and we go back to the room we are seated in(it was cold). Our waitress did her best, she had our big party and then the entire room and I’m guessing some other tables outside the private room. So she wasn’t back as often, but we were up and down for drinks. So no issue there(I’ve worked service). None of us has an issue with the 20% gratuity but when we did go to pay she didn’t give us the option to add more. We all had split checks applied so I wanted to tip more. But whatever(didn’t have cash on hand). Which brings me to my next issue. The one person who did have cash(not the person with the issues(I’ll explain further) received multiple coupons for $$ off their next visit. Not the birthday girl who didn’t eat. But again whatever.
We ordered appetizers, which were great and then ordered our entrees. Mine(birthday girl) was horrible. I ordered Cajun pasta and there was a hint of Cajun and a whole cup of pepper. I thought maybe I was being sensitive but I let a few people try a bite to taste and they all agreed. To the point I was coughing. I sent this back and by the time I was able to everyone was already halfway done so I didn’t want to stay. I was cold, hungry, and by this point had a migraine. I didn’t want to wait and sit and eat alone.
They did remove it from the bill, but it was just a horrible experience. There was a cake or cupcake… some kind of desert brought out and I thought ok… I’ll eat this and the migraine will go away slightly… nope, that was inedible too.
All in all, I wish I hadn’t sang the praises for this place and canceled our Coopers Hawk reservation. Guess there...
