Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken & Wings — Restaurant in Naperville

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken, and I must say, I was blown away by the quality and size of their hot chicken. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of their mouthwatering creations had my taste buds tingling with anticipation.

One thing that immediately caught my attention was the generous portion size. Hangry Joe's serves up hot chicken that is truly massive. I ordered their signature hot chicken sandwich with fries, and to my surprise, one serving was more than enough to satisfy two hungry individuals. It's safe to say that they don't skimp on their portions!

The chicken itself was a true delight. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor. Hangry Joe's has nailed the ideal balance of spices, offering a range of five different spice levels similar to that of Dave's Restaurant. Whether you prefer a mild kick or an intense fiery experience, you can find the perfect level of heat to suit your taste buds.

Initially, I had concerns about the price, as the hot chicken sandwich with fries comes at a price tag of almost $15. However, after experiencing the portion size firsthand, I realized that it was well worth the cost. This sandwich is truly a meal for two, and the added bonus of the deliciously seasoned fries made it an even more satisfying and complete dining experience.

Speaking of the fries, they were simply fantastic. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection, they provided an excellent complement to the star of the show—the hot chicken sandwich. The combination of the juicy chicken and the delectable fries made every bite a delightful explosion of flavors.

Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken restaurant exceeded my expectations in terms of taste, portion size, and overall dining experience. While it may seem slightly pricey at first, the fact that one sandwich with fries can easily feed two people makes it a worthwhile investment. Take out experience is extremely awful. It’s difficult for me to express in words how terrible extremely terrible the take out experience was. I had one of my family members who has never been here go and pick up the order so she was clueless on how the food is supposedly packed. The $60 food looked like the staff in the back, had walked out to the dumpster and picked up the order from the dumpster and hand it over to us. I have never been this shocked by any sort of takeout order from any restaurant. The white thank you bag had a extremely greasy paper bag with food just thrown in it, look like food that I got as a homeless person, in fact, even the homeless people get much better package food. Surprisingly when I went there for the first time per my initial review, I had seen other customers with their takeout order in a completely different packaging no one received food in brown paper bags. But I was informed this was perhaps due to the owner being out of the country, and when the owner is out the staff is extremely incompetent and can screw up the quality of the product. I as a business owner can relate and I was very reluctant on updating my review because I would not want to disrupt or harm anyone’s business but this seems like the only way to get the owners attention as I’ve called many times throughout the weeks. The experience I had dine in and then the experience I had as a returning customer for takeout order was day and night! It 1000% felt like the food for the takeout order came from a completely different restaurant somewhere from a back alley or something. I would love to speak to the owner and give him my feedback and amend my review, but until then I will keep it...

I typically eat Dave’s. Dave’s tenders are thicker and crispier, I prefer their coleslaw, and prefer their sauce

HOWEVER I will choose Hangry. The variety of choices overall pull me to them. I got the wings where my partner got the chicken and waffle. My waffle fries were fresh and crisp && the wings perfectly spiced at Hot, crisp, and juicy. I tried the waffle which had a chewy middle, which is my fav, and I didn’t personally need syrup. It was a great match for the tenders they came with. I don’t mind their sauce at all it had a pickle juice kick I enjoy, I wouldn’t mind it being a thicker consistency however.

Everything came out within reasonable time and was so fresh and juicy. The atmosphere was mellow and clean, I came after 8pm. Price is to be expected in 2023 🤷🏾‍♀️, just is what it is. A few upcharges that I believe some grace could’ve been granted for (ranch and additional sauce) yet it is what it is. It seems family operated so I don’t mind!

A new go to for me when I do crave some heat on the go....
