We are really disapointed at our experience today. We made a reservation a week in advance for my mother's birthday, we made sure to drive up there to speak with someone in person and requested a specific table, we were promised it would be noted and that we would have the table we wanted. We discussed the details about the cake we would bring and all seemed good to go. Unfortunately, when we arrived on the day of the occasion, the table we requested was taken, the person at the front just shrugged it off and was pretty rude.. We were offered a table next to the one we wanted but had to wait for it outside for over 20min. Once seated, the food was fine (rather small portions).. When we requested the cake to be brought out, they did just that - brought it out still packaged, with a candle on a side, packaged as well... I was shocked.. How would they not think of taking it out of the box, placing the candle on top, lighting it... They did all of this in front of us.. The surprise was ruined for my mother and needless to say how frustrated I was.. When I tried to tell them that was not the way to do it, the person got visibly frustrated with us and didn't really care to explain why they were so negligent with our wishes.. We will not be back.. The food may be OK, but customer service is terrible, we did not feel welcome. Also any "crab" they have in the ingredients (sushi) is actually crab stick imitation meat, which is far from crab meat as everyone...
Read moreI’ve always have had great service here but unfortunately when I recently came here on 12/3/21 I was upset with the service. I could tell I had a newer chef and I did give leeway however, he acted as if there was a line out the door when there were three hibachi tables open. Everything was very rushed he almost burnt the rice. My sister had the lobster and said it was chewy which meant it was over cooked and that has never happened before. The egg yolk (golden sauce) that I have had on previous visits was a quarter of the normal serving size compared to my last visit. I always get the filet and shrimp with garlic shrimp and the chef dropped one of my shrimp and not give me the full portion that I had in the past. The server forgot one of my appetizers which was upsetting when I saw the bill and I was still charge for it however they did end up taking it off the bill after I had mentioned something. The filet that I had for steak had chewy pieces of fat in it which was abnormal since typically filet does not have fat. Overall the chef seemed like he was in a rush and inexperienced and maybe needed a little bit more training before serving guests. Read moreSomehow in the sheltered living of the past year we didn’t notice the Choo choo restaurant near Caputos transform into a very nice Japanese style hibachi and sushi restaurant. I and my daughters enjoy sushi but my wife and son prefer more traditional entrees, so the menu at Zuka has something for all. We have enjoyed other places closer to home, but those reviews have turned sour since the pandemic and related staff shortages. When looking at Top Sushi Near Naperville, Zuka appeared directly under another favorite of ours. We decided to give it a try and were well pleased. Personally, I’ve seen the hibachi skit more than I care to, still “Jerry” was a fine chef and we enjoyed the foods he assembled on the hibachi grill. Of course we ordered some sushi sides and they were fresh and full of great flavor too. It appears that Zuka enjoys a crowd of regulars. I know we’ll go back again soon.
