We went to Wahoo’s for lunch today. The restaurant is nestled in an interesting location behind the airport, so thought that it could be a “hidden gem” type of place. On Sunday it turns into a Buffalo Bills bar, so be prepared for a sports bar atmosphere during the game; although we did not know this beforehand, we had no problem enjoying the lively room. When it came time to order, it was an easy decision for me: grouper BLT. As a restaurant named after a fish, located on a waterway on the gulf of Mexico, I assumed the grouper would be a delicious sure bet. BIG MISTAKE. At first bite, it was clear than my grouper BLT was in fact a frozen Mahi BLT. As someone who has lived off the gulf for several years, the taste of fresh grouper is as unmistakable as the taste of fishy defrosted Mahi. The sandwich was edible, as were my friends meals, but what put us over the top was the response I got from the waitress when I brought up the issue. “Well, it looks like you really enjoyed it” she stated as I told her about the mislabeled menu item. Make no mistake, I would never ask for a refund on an item that I ate, I was simply letting them know our disappointment in the mislabeled dish, but the waitress pushed back, telling me that “our chef usually uses grouper”…. All in all the food was not terrible, nor was it memorable, but if you’re going to list a “Grouper BLT” on your menu for $19, and then serve frozen Mahi, don’t be surprised that any average gulf coast Floridian with half a palate will sniff the money grab out faster than you can...
Read moreI stumbled upon this hidden gem of a restaurant several years ago when I began long walks on Naples Greenway trail. Imagine my relief 2 miles into my walk to find a most fabulous river front restaurant along the way. The food is incredibly wonderful, with a variety of new daily specials introduced each week. The service is exceptional, with the most wonderful attentive servers along with a hands on manager and amazing chefs. These wonderful people go out of your way to make you feel special and welcome, always making sure that you are enjoying great food and service. I enjoy this place so much that I frequent the restaurant for lunch or special music related events several times a week. I brought one friend to lunch on a walk and she ended up booking and enjoying her own wedding of nearly 100 people at this fine venue. Thank you Wahoo's for being a most wonderful...
Read moreFood was excellent. Waiter was great. Only issue we had was they were out of to go cups so the waiter (right or wrong) told one of the kids in our large group to take the cup he was using. He even put a to go plastic lid on it. On the way down stairs another male employee who was bussing tables stopped him and demanded the plastic cup back. He explained what the waiter had said but he still demanded the cup back. Guess they got their wires crossed or what ever. The boy gave back the cup and was really embarrassed. We were left to explain that he didn't do anything wrong and not to feel bad about it. Everyone heard what the waiter said to do and he was just following the waiters instructions. The male employee would not even listen to the parents. Would still go back if were in town again. Nice people with the exception of that one guy. ...
