If you're in the mood for a breakfast adventure, then this is the place for you. Knock yourself out chef. Your Instagram awaits.
If you're someone looking for a good traditional breakfast at a fair price, you'll be sadly disappointed, as I was. If you look at the menu, there is virtually nothing on there that resembles a traditional breakfast item. Everything is all fancy'ed up.
I dared to ask the waitress how exactly their jalapeno sausage gravy compares to traditional sausage gravy, and she looked at me like I was speaking swahili. Why on earth would anyone want traditional sausage gravy, apparently?
Turns out it was interesting for the first few bites, but then the gratuitous heat from the jalapenos made the whole thing unappealing. Especially at breakfast time. And there was very little sausage to be found. The biscuits were interesting, but there again, not what one thinks of when they think of a biscuit. They were very moist and dense. Maybe some people find that appealing. I prefer a good old flaky biscuit.
There are no hash browns or breakfast potatoes on the menu either. Perhaps because no real chef would stoop to such trivialities? Good hash browns are a true skill, and take up some real estate on the griddle. The "hashbrown biscuit" may have been easier to prepare ahead of time, but neither my wife or I cared for it. Not sure exactly what was in it, but it didn't resemble normal hash browns in any way.
The hollandaise sauce was also not what one would expect. Generally lemon is used in hollandaise for the chemistry, but that's not supposed to be the primary flavor. Again, I was in the mood for just good ol' hollandaise. Is that really something that needs to be improved upon? And of course, rather than a traditional english muffin, it was served on "Tigelle" , which was a much more dense and heavy.
The people next to us were raving about their dishes, and even had a short love fest with the chef. So maybe I just don't get it? I can live with that.
Also, whatever you do, don't confuse this place with The Red Rooster on Marco. The Red Rooster on Marco is a 10 star breakfast and lunch spot. You won't need to pull our your Julia Child book to interpret their menu.
Bottom line. If you're looking for a very creative non-traditional breakfast, then this is your place. I'm sure the chef puts a lot of effort into the menu. If you're looking for a traditional, well made breakfast, at a reasonable price, this is...
Read moreFantastic place to have a great meal! I arrived around lunchtime and there was a line, but my wait time wasn’t long! When they sat me down my server, Abby greeted me with a great smile and such positive energy! She was like that throughout my whole time there even though she was busy, she always found a time to stop by and check on me And fill my glass of Arnold Palmer! Abby immediately suggested as I was looking through the menu to try their famous biscuit with a side of butter and strawberry jam. That must’ve been the best biscuit I’ve ever had! The outside had a nice crumbly exterior, but the inside was soft and buttery. Honestly, it was like crack so addicting, glad that it was the half order and not the full! The menu has so many great options, but I highly suggest take your time. Read what they offer and look at the place that are going out. Everybody has a little bit of something else that you may have wanted. I chose the pork belly BLT and all I could tell you is it was so delicious. The pork belly melted in your mouth. It was loaded with layers of flavor the added side of sliced pickle, jalapeño, and onion relish really help cleanse your palette! Their fries are fantastic. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and nice big slices of potato! I will definitely be coming back and try and some of the other options that are offered on the menu! Thank you, Abby for a wonderful experience and service as well as your colleagues that helped out! A special shout out to #GUYFEIRI For featuring this eatery on your triple D show on...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I had been itching to go to The Rooster since they opened but just recently made it in, we were VERY impressed! He ordered the Shrimp & Grits which was easily the best we have ever had – so creamy and the shrimp were huge. Definitely not your typical little salad shrimp! My dad kept it simple with eggs and bacon, he loved the eggs and how fresh they tasted.
I got the Blueberry & Lemon Pancakes, as did my brother who is pretty picky, we both loved them. The lemon is very subtle, just enough to intensify the natural sweetness in the batter and the juicy blueberries. Lisa explained that the batter is made with warm milk and that makes the pancakes creamy and gooey but fully cooked and she was 100% right. These were the best pancakes I’ve had in Naples.
The bacon was cooked perfectly so that it was just slightly crispy and the Hashbrown Biscuit…I’ve never had anything like it. I did add salt to it, but I like that it isn’t overly salty like most hashbrowns or breakfast potatoes as that allows the customer to add however much (or none!) they like. Great twist on your typical hashbrown.
Lisa brought us a slice of Chocolate Chip Cheesecake to finish and that was, wait for it, also perfect! Not surprising though after how great the breakfast was. It was just slightly sweet but definitely cheesy enough, which I find that most cheesecakes are overly sweet and don’t have that true NY cheesecake tangy flavor. Needless to say, we can’t wait to go back to...
