Soel Sistas Cafe, Catering, & Food Truck — Restaurant in Nashua

Ordered via doordash and got genuinely the worst mashed potatoes I've ever had. It was bizarre.

I've had their food via food truck before, but this- it tasted like the only ingredients were potato flakes and (too much) water. No creaminess, no flavor, nothing at all. The texture was awful, like boxed mashed potatoes made poorly, and I can recognize the fake stuff when it's right in front of me.

I'm very perplexed by this, because this place has great reviews and I haven't been done dirty like this before. And it's not a doordash problem- I work SO close to the restaurant that ordering delivery feels really silly (but due to reasons, I couldn't go in person), and the entire delivery time was less than 5 minutes. It was an issue of food quality.

The pork chop was good. Overcooked to my taste, but I'm sure restaurants have to be more strict about meat temperature than home chefs. The FDA guidelines haven't gotten the memo about pork being trichinosis-free, apparently, and that's fine. My issue is just the potatoes. I paid 20 dollars for them, and they were worse than what you'd get out...

I cannot actually remember how I learned of Soel Sistas. I suspect it was during COVID and they were assisting in the community. While my son and family were visiting a couple of weeks ago, he wanted a party for his friends who were in town. I picked Soel Sistas to cater it based on the vibe and the selection. It was amazing! That smoked/baked pork shoulder was magical. I do not think I have ever tasted any meat, anywhere that was better. I don't usually allow myself fried chicken, but this was fantastic. The crust was so light, and the meat was perfect! Giant Mac and Cheese. They ate every bit. And I do not know what they do with their cornbread but, it was outstanding. I am so glad I had this food for the party. I picked this up and it was ready, right-on time. They were on their way to cater a wedding, but they helped me to get all the food into my car. Excellent experience all the way around! Kendra is wonderful to deal with, ordering is easy and convenient. But, most important, the food is terrific! I ordered a special Sunday dinner with all the fixings for my family who are fussy eaters and very picky about the quality of their food. Everyone was very pleased with our meal! My son commented that Kendra's macaroni and cheese is the best he's ever had! The food is fresh, piping hot and delicious! She doesn't cut corners and you can taste the quality of her ingredients. She chooses healthier options (ie. collard greens cooked with smoked turkey instead of pork) but does not compromise on taste!
