The location is not very pleasing. Drunk men were sitting outside everywhere!! The food was subpar. My wife believed the food was reheated from the previous day. We went there for my stepdaughter's early birthday celebration (Nov. 11, 2023). When we arrived, our table was not clean, so my wife and I wiped it off. Also, the restroom wasn't tidy either. My daughter saw a giant spider in a web and ran out. The service was horrible. It seemed like they were getting food ready to deliver to some big function and pretty much ignored us. We finally received menus to order and then took a long time to receive our food; I believe it was due to getting someone's big order ready. Our drinks were in bottles, and my Diet Coke was way outdated and expired. The lady there preparing food and other orders would never check on us. After waiting a while, I went up to the counter to ask for more injera bread that my wife wanted; the lady thought I was getting ready to check out, but I told her no, I just wanted injera bread. So, she finally brought a little blue basket of it to our table, and she used her BARE HANDS right in front of us and threw it on top of our platter of food!! We were horrified after that, and we just got ready to checkout!!!!! We always leave a tip of appreciation, which is always more than the total ticket percentage... Needless to say, I paid for only the ticket amount!!!!!
I do not recommend this place!!!!!!!

Read moreAbsolutely excellent, friendly service, good deals. They keep it a bit warm in there but that has been my experience at most Ethiopian restaurants, also they burn resin incense at times so the smells can be overwhelming if you aren't used to it, but overall it was a delightful experience. Also keep in mind that traditional Ethiopian food is served on one plate for multiple people to share and no silverware is given, instead you are to tear of a piece of the spongy bread and eat it with you hands. All of these things are normal for Ethiopian cuisine so if you are used to american restaurants this can be a bit of a shock but go with it, you won't be disappointed.
Update: just had my 3rd visit here and I must say, I really wish I made it to Nashville more often just so I could eat here more... the Awazi Tibs are absolutely amazing and don't be intimidated by the amount of food they bring out if you order the special, just grab a to-go box, the leftovers are nearly just as good reheated as they are fresh. This place is a must try if you are feeling adventurous or just like cuisines that are not the usual, burger, tacos, pastas, and rice, dishes that make up 90% of the...
Read moreI'll be honest, I visited a restaurant in Indianapolis with the same name and cuisine and it was to die for. I was excited to take my boyfriend there, thinking it would be similar, maybe a some sort of chain. We get there and asked for a menu. She said they aren't available. That was our first red flag but we went with it. I am a vegan, he's a vegetarian, so we just say that. We ask for one meal to split, then come to realize they brought one big plate for two people. They charge us for two separate meals, the food was barely warm, as if it was swiftly run through the microwave. We weren't necessarily sure what was given to us.. whether it truly was dairy free or not. They knew we weren't satisfied with the food and yet they did not ask whether we'd like it remade or not. I work in the food industry and the minute I see someone who is even in the slightest unsatisfied with their food, I ask them if there is any way I can fix it. Awful customer connection, awful food, I was hoping for...
