We do not mind paying for good food and good service. Our server was very pleasant and is partly why I am giving the restaurant 2 stars. The server was Ireland, she was very nice. The second reason I gave more than 1star is the salad bar. It is well above the average salad bar, very good!! Now to the issues. The steaks were a little pricey but the place was recommended by two people that I know. The server said they had a ribeye special so I ordered it. It turned out to be special because it's the most expensive steak they have, lol. When my beautiful bone in ribeye came out, I was pretty excited. It was accompanied by a delicious loaded baked potato. My wife ordered the $30 8oz ribeye. I have seen better looking steaks at the waffle house. The steak was cooked a true medium, reddish pink when I cut into it. First bite tasted delicious, but something was off. I thought I had a thin piece of grissel but I pulled a long black hair out of my mouth, about 4-5 inches long. I feel like it was on the plate under the steak. I was a little sickened by this. The server took it back and reluctantly I agreed to get a new steak. The lady who was the manager or owner came over to apologize and let me know everyone wears a hairnet. I said no big deal, things happen. They brought me a new steak meanwhile my wife was not able to choke down much of her $30 piece of old boot. It was so thin, they should decline to offer that size if they cannot cook it better. The owner/manager lady came to check on us and see how the new steak was. Me being me I said "it's a hair better than the first one". She chuckled and said I must have been sitting there thinking that up. This is where it really went down hill. While she was there, I told her about my wife's steak not being very good at all. She immediately looked annoyed and asked what was wrong. We told her it was tough and had no flavor. She said mine was better because it was on the bone and offered no apology for the poor steak and then walked away. My daughter was coming back from the restroom and passed her and the server at the beverage stand. My daughter said the lady was waving her arms and was telling the server that all I wanted to do was complain. I am not that person, I however want the food and service to match the price. If we wanted to complain we would have mentioned the soggy boiled brussel sprouts that were described as roasted by the server. My wife didn't eat very many of them. Later the server came out with a desert menu and asked if we wanted to pick one or two for our trouble. We were not looking for anything for free, however I don't believe I could charge those prices to someone who had been served a long piece of hair. We took the desserts mainly because my wife wasn't able to eat much of her food. I am going to try to post the receipt for reference. My daughter's each got a kids chicken tenders. It was the kind of tenders that are served at our local bowling alley $12 per order. If you go, I hope everything goes perfect. I would recommend spending your hard earned money somewhere else. At least a longhorn will make their mistakes right for...
Read moreIf I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. I never even got the opportunity to eat there because of their inability to book a reservation. I counted on my phone over 12 times that I tried to call over the course of a couple weeks. The line was ALWAYS “busy”— actually it rang a few times and went to voicemail. So I left a voicemail. No call back. I went online to see if there was online booking. Nope. Around the 9th call, I received instructions on the voicemail to text someone to set up a reservation. Again, no answer. I’m starting to feel a little frustrated because I’m trying to set this up for work— we have a huge meeting coming up and the deadline is drawing near. I decided— fine I’ll swing by on my way home from work but let me just try calling one last time. Finally! There was a human voice on the other line! I blurted out, “thank goodness you answered, I’ve been trying to get ahold of y’all for two weeks!” Woman on the line said “What?” And I repeated what I said. She said “Oh..” and No apologies. Just “What can I do for you?” “I need a reservation, please.” “What day and how many in your party?” “Next Thursday for...” She cut me off “Nope, I’m all booked.” I was baffled- no apologies, no other suggestions. I muttered fine and hung up. I still didn’t feel right though— She didn’t even listen to what time I had said. Is the ENTIRE restaurant really entirely booked from 5pm-9pm?? She didn’t even take a breath and pause like she was looking at the register. I got a sense she didn’t like what I had first blurted out and decided she didn’t want to help me. I was a few minutes from the restaurant by then and I decided, well I’ll just go and speak to the manager and see if there’s something that can be arranged. Turns out I was speaking to the manager! Lisa, she was all smiles as I said I was there to speak to the manager to plan an event. She started to move towards her laptop asking what I had in mind. I asked what she had available and that’s when she paused. She stopped with fingers just above her laptop and turned and said “If this is for next Thursday, we’re booked.” Ugh she was onto me.... She refused to wake up her laptop at that point because I really think she didn’t want to be caught in a lie. She proceeded to tell me she could book a year out but that she also had availability next Tuesday and Wednesday. I left and threw her business card in the trash. To grind salt in the wound, she finally responded to my text that night... I think so she could say she covered her bases. I’m sorry if I was a little blunt on the phone but your customers shouldn’t have to call a dozen times just to get through to you! You should respond to your voicemails! And you feel like you’re punishing ME by not giving me a reservation? Ha! I work with a multi-TRILLION dollar company that holds meetings in the area at least a couple dozen times a year! You missed out on 20 person tabletop. You’re not hurting me, Lisa. From what I read online, you’re a rude person that is digging yourself a hole. I’m glad you won’t get one red cent of our business! I normally love to support local businesses but I would love nothing more to see...
Read moreMy family and I stopped here during our vacation in Franklin after finding it on Google with fairly decent reviews.
I’ll break each aspect down.
Service - not very friendly overall. The hostess, who is also likely the owner or owners wife (or other family) came off as stuck up. She even came by the table and demanded I turn the volume down on my phone while my daughter was watching a movie. The volume wasn’t even up to the halfway point on my iPhone. A table directly behind us had an extremely loud FaceTime session going on and the hostess didn’t say a word.
Our waiter was extremely friendly but super slow and not as attentive as I’d expect from a place that tries to portray an upscale atmosphere. One random waitress came by and was very friendly.
One of the other waiters who brought my kid’s food out mentioned that they owed us 3 more chicken tenders for their meals. I thanked him but declined the tenders since my kids were probably going to be too full off the food they did have. I politely said no thanks and not to worry about it, he replied with an extremely rude “ok” and stormed off. Who knew he wanted me to have those tenders soooo bad.
Atmosphere - dated but better than average. Clean restrooms.
Food - the salad bar was ok but the biggest issue with it was instead of cubed ham, they had cubed bologna. I have nothing against bologna, I grew up on mustard and bologna sandwiches but I’d expect a place that tries to come off as fairly high end would have ham instead.
The steaks were good but far from great. For the price you can go to III Forks or Ruth’s Chris and get a better steak.
The lobster tail was easily one of the best I’ve ever had, hands down.
The chocolate cake was extremely good too.
Overall not a terrible place. The service overall was bad, the food overall was good but overpriced. In all I spent $217 (including tip) and I regret going and spending that much. The lobster tail and cake don’t make up for the other...
