Not my favorite. Chose it for the good reviews and because I’d never been there. First they put me at a table when there were clearly booths open. I guess they were reserving them hoping for larger parties. That makes sense but I was still very uneasy sitting in the middle of the room with everyone moving close around me. I should’ve left right then. I was admonished for trying to take photos for my reviews too. First time anyone has ever said anything about it. I wanted to tell her that I am perfectly within my legal rights taking photos in a public space AND show her my 8.7 MILLION views on my photos. I was afraid I’d get a booger on my food so I kept my mouth shut.
My over medium eggs were cooked perfectly. If you order eggs that way then you know how hard it can be to get eggs that aren’t scorched or look like runny snot.
The chicken fried steak was not to my liking either but I’ll give them a pass on that one. I don’t care much for fried food so I’m not sure why I ordered that other than it was marked as a chef specialty. There were plenty of other options I could have chosen. If you like country fried steak it might just be the bees knees for you. I didn’t get many pics to share; I had promised to delete any that showed...
Read moreWe had heard a lot about Flat Tire Diner and were eager to try it. It's hard to understand how a restaurant in the South can be called a "Diner" serving breakfast and not serve biscuits and gravy. It's like going to the Jack Daniels Distillery and getting champagne to taste test after the tour. Scouring the menu for biscuits and gravy, we were very disappointed to find on the bottom of the menu that they were only served on weekends. This was very disappointing since they have their own inhouse bakery. It makes us wonder if the biscuits are not good enough to serve everyday. After getting over the disappointment of not getting biscuits and gravy, we decided on pancakes and the Supreme Omelet. There were 3 nice size pancakes in the order. They were soft with a good flavor. They also were served with real syrup. The omelet had a large portion of bacon, sausage and cheese with fresh tomatoes and onions. The fresh avocado was a treat. The toast and strawberry were ok, as were the hashbrowns. All in all, it was a good breakfast, but the disappointment of not getting biscuits and gravy was difficult to over come. Before we left, we overheard someone else ask about not having biscuits and gravy...
Read moreTried this place twice and both times the service was slow and impersonal. The first time, we waited a very long time at the counter to even be approached by staff to get pur drinks and was disappointed in the food. Food was average at best. But their specialty french toast was good, so I do recommend that. The part that bugged me was hearing an employee complain to a nearby table and asking them to be sure and rate the restaurant 5 stars. Nothing wrong with asking but it made me uncomfortable the way it was done. It felt very aggressive if you disagreed. Second time, we made sure not to sit at the counter and our waitress never made eye contact or smiled or refilled our waters. Food was good (breakfast again). I'm sure it takes a while to get in the groove. The menu looks good and I want to try for a third time but overall, it's nothing special currently.
Update 2022: I have found this place to be better than my prior experiences. They seem to have improved their wait staff and I have found my favorites on the menu. They do get busy fast, so the earlier you get there, the easier...
