I’ve eaten Korean bbq in places where there’s more than one Korean bbq restaurant in a 25 mile radius, and I can confidently tell you this place is fantastic, as so many other reviewers have said. The food is very definitely the real deal.
I’m not surprised they cook for you at the table. A lot of Korean bbq places are like that. It’s because they care, it reduces liability, and frankly they do it better than you. Let it go and just allow them to cook for you. They do it really well and nothing will get burnt. (Of course we all know some customer burned their own dinner at some point, blamed the restaurant, refused to pay, and now none of us get to do the cooking, right?). We lost our collective privileges. :)))
And a note about the service—the Asian expectations for service are VERY different than what you’re used to. That doesn’t make it WRONG—just different. Some of you clearly need more Asian friends to explain things to you. ;))) I promise, the servers are watching you and taking care of you, but you have to participate in the experience differently. Need to be a little more patient, and when you want something, consider where your server is and which way they’re facing…they’ll come by pretty soon and look at you to see if you look happy. If you look happy, then you’re probably happy and off they go. If you look at your empty glass of Coke and you’re frowning and gasping “Dry…my throat…is so dry,” chances are very good they’ll notice. And if that doesn’t work, just gently get their attention (all you have to do is look for them and then smile or nod) and they’ll come right over to see what you need. You have to be a little bold sometimes and take that initiative. It’s not the Cracker Barrel. You’re an adult and you can do this.
Eat all the banchan…it’s amazing. Don’t worry about trying to figure out what everything is…it’s all delicious, none of it is the “gross” gelatinous stuff or “scary” offal disguised as something else. ;) You’ll be fine If you eat it all—and don’t worry, they’ll bring you more (but you have to ask). Dip all your meat into all the sauces, but especially don’t miss the sesame oil with salt.
Final note—if you’re doing the bbq, always dress for high summer. It gets very hot and the overhead vents...
Read moreWe went here for the first time last weekend, everything was ok up until it was time to pay. We gave 2 cards so they could split the payment. While they had our cards, my bank notified me that my card was charged the full amount $109, a little bit after I noticed another charge come in for $54. I couldn’t see the $109 anymore so I figured they had refunded it after realizing they charged my card for the whole bill instead of splitting the bill. I figured since I didn’t see the $109 anymore that I was safe to say they fixed it and charged us both the $54 as planned. Since it was the weekend we couldn’t see everything on our banks, but once Monday hit we realized they charged one of us $54 + a tip and then charged the other person the full amount $109. Unfortunately I didn’t keep the receipt with me because I trusted that they had fixed it the first time when we noticed my card getting charged twice, and one of the charges getting refunded on mine. Tried to dispute it with the other persons bank but the restaurant is saying that it was correct to charge one of us the full bill and the other half which makes no sense. It doesn’t help that the person who got charged extra isn’t from here or we would go in person to try to get it resolved. There’s just no way that when you go to look at your tickets there’s no history of charging a $109 tab, on 2 different cards 3-4 times. It should show that one card was charged $109 and the other $54..over charging one of us by an extra $54. Needless to say, if you’re going to come here keep your receipts and check your bank account before leaving and the day after because you might notice extra charges. Or just don’t ask to split a bill up because something will get mixed up and someone will be out more money than they should be or you’ll wake up to a surprise extra charge. We provided the day, times and proof of both of our bank accounts being charged to help narrow down the search history of tickets to see what happened but nothing has been done to solve...
Read moreTonight’s dinner experience was awful to say the least. We got to dinner around 8:35pm knowing they close at 10pm on Friday nights. Figured it was plenty of time to eat for the six of us (4 adults & 2 children). As soon as we were seated, I ordered the items on their self service kiosk. One by one, from the appetizer to the main entrees all came out by this time it was 9:10pm. We were the only table at the time, I rang their call bell for service, no one came to assist. All the servers (4-5) were standing around talking to each other or watching tv. Some of the servers didn’t speak English so they had to grab another server to help translate. It seemed like they either didn’t want to serve/work or be there. At 9:24pm, owner/manager came by the table and said they close at 10pm and that we needed to pay our check soon. Immediately, I felt rushed so I went ahead and paid for our dinner but noticed he added 20% gratuity. I have no problem with gratuity or paying for it. The problem I have is the lack of service they provide to the customers and then urgently telling us to pay when we weren’t close to finishing up with our meals. Not to mention, they wanted us to get done and leave their establishment so I rang the call bell to ask for to go containers, again no one came by. My mom and sister grabbed the containers instead from the table behind them. From the moment food was ordered on the self service kiosk, everything else was self service. Not sure the point of call bell when no one answers and checks on the tables. Service is terrible, manager is absurdly rude, & food is mediocre. It’s self service but will require 20% gratuity for party of six or more regardless if they...
