As someone very familiar with the hospitality industry, I would say this spot has a LOT to be desired. I had high hopes when I first found out about its opening, drawn by the high-quality photos posted, but what a let down!
In a town with Attaboy and The Patterson House, it has no business labeling itself as a cocktail bar. The drink menu is underwhelming, but I was intrigued by the mezcal drink, curious about the bulgogi added into the syrup. I eat bulgogi on a regular basis, but this drink had no subtlety and tasted like a basic tequila lemon drop, mezcal not high quality, and presentation and flavor extremely mediocre, all for $12. Then the $18 burger...it promptly fell apart as I picked it up. The patty was so overcooked that it just became a bunch of dry beef pieces. The bun was soggy and mushy. What a mess! I ended up eating it by scooping up pieces with a fork...
The even more ridiculous thing is a credit card surcharge. In this day and age, in a town like Nashville, it charges a nearly 6% credit credit fee. My item total was $30, and after tax and the credit card surcharge, it was $36+. The service was good, so I did tip 20%, but mind you, the auto-calculation provided on the bill was based on the $36, not the $30. My total bill was $42, for a dive bar drink and a badly executed burger.
Having seen multiple iterations of restaurants/bars in this space, I see what they're trying to do. In a neighborhood with dive bars, sports bars, an upscale italian restaurant with decent cocktails, and two craft beer spots, they have the opportunity to carve out a space to be a uniquely top-notch business. However, it's a bar with a severe identity crisis and lacking offerings. The only good thing was the service, so I hope the team are getting paid enough. With how it is now, I would advise the owners to position the bar as a neighborhood hangout type bar and grill with a "vibe". Bring down the prices. Fix the food quality. Innovate on the cocktails if still want the drinks to stand out. At night, turn down the lighting. Rethink the loungey areas that are so out of place and confusing. And for the love of god, get rid of the credit card surcharge and the bouncer -...
Read moreDope spot next to the best guitar shop in town. If you're having your rig tuned up, adjusted or repaired just slide on over for a quick bite and a drink while you're waiting for pickup. Huge outdoor seating area and lots of spots inside and at the bar. Had the whiskey dip with truffle fries and the truffle fries were awesome. Some of the best truffle fries I've had in town. Also got the hot chicken and mac n cheese and it was literally just that. Hot chicken had a good flavor although it wasn't super spicy. Mac and cheese was as traditional as you can expect, no oven baked or weird gouda smoked anything. Just straight mac n cheese like moma would make. Cocktails are solid but not over the top in presentation or delivery. Great draft beer selection 👌 they had ichiban on tap with was awesome to say the least. Mozzarella sticks were just fine with a side of a la vodka type sauce. We also tried the Buffalo chicken sandwich and it was very solid. Def a party type atmosphere and a great alternative to mothers ruin on the opposite side of town. Decor and vibe gave me old fable lounge meets mother's Ruin type of vibe. All in all def recomend this spot to locals and travelers, especially if the line to mothers is down the block. For a town full of resturants that over do it and then miss the mark this spot...
Read moreUPDATE - this issue has been resolved and apparently was the fault of the vendor running their POS. I received a call and text from the vendor within a few days of posting the original review. They were very apologetic and issued a full refund. Do still think lots of confusion could’ve been avoided with a simple text or VM saying they’d reached out to the vendor but overall issue resolved and my previous statement stands that this is a solid add to the Nations.
Been here twice. Pretty good vibe, food is solid. Overall a great add to the neighborhood. HOWEVER - they increased our tip to 200% on a $60 bill the last time we went. I’ve called three times, been to the bar to ask in person how to resolve it - left my number and was told a manager would handle and that this isn’t a one time occurrence - and THREE WEEKS LATER - nothing. Leaving this review as a last resort. Let’s see if they keep letting someone rip off their customers or they actually want to be a reputable business in...
