I visited for the first time last Friday, July 5th around 5:30PM. Upon arriving, I was quickly seated, then reviewed the menu. The atmosphere was odd. A few different families were sitting, tucking into opaque plastic bags(yes, bags) of what appeared to be mixed seafood boils. My drink order was taken around 10 minutes later by the same hostess who sat me as she noticed my server was absent. My server showed up about 5-10 minutes later saying she was busy and she'd be right with me. She stopped by again 5 minutes later saying again she'll be right with me. I finally get to order shortly after her second visit and decide to order the catfish. I figure it was probably the safest to try for a first time visit. I asked for tartar sauce with my order. The server said she couldn't put it directly on my order, or they would have to charge me for it. I realize food costs are rising, but tartar sauce seems a strange place to fight that battle on. That was the first red flag.
In the time waiting for my food to come out, I notice the table behind me is arguing with the management about their bill. That's not too uncommon, but for a first visit it seemed a bit weird to be occurring behind me.
I receive my food a bit later, and while the fry job was fine, the food quality was not. This catfish tasted like it was caught in a sewer, and their highly prized tartar tasted nothing like it was supposed to. I eat catfish quite often, and this was the worst catfish I've had in a long time. I finished the french fries while I waited for my server, and I asked her to bring the bill. She noticed I did not finish my fish and asked if I didn't like it. I told her it was very bad, but I didn't want to make a big deal about it and to bring the bill. She then informed me she was sorry, but I would not be able to get a refund. I had not asked for a refund, but I got the feeling this may be a common occurrence by how the server responded.
The server then returned stating she had discussed with the management, and they would have to charge me for my food. She said next time I come back she can try to work something out. I explained that I wasn't interested in a refund and to please bring the bill. She then did so. I paid and walked out. I was not visited by management about my complaints.
My advice to the Juicy Seafood owners is to not treat your customers like they're trying to steal from you and listen to them. Sometime complaints are genuine, and you might be running off potential good customers because of previous bad experiences you may have had with...
Read moreI was threatened by the staff.
The customer service at this location is horrible. I placed an order via the phone and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. 30 minutes later I come to pick up my food and there’s 20 + people waiting outside. Therefore, I called to check and see if my order was ready. The man who answered told me yes. Therefore, I asked him how could I go about paying for my food. Since we are in a midst of a pandemic I wasn’t sure what guidelines they had in place to keep people safe so I asked if I was able to pay over the phone and someone will you bring it out to me? Do I go inside and pay? Basically trying to avoid having to be outside in a crowd of people trying to order food, when I was just coming to pick up an order.
As soon as I asked those questions, I was cut off by the host. He interrupted me and asked me if “I WANTED TO GET BEAT UP!”
I was so shocked by this. Then I asked him why he would ask me that. He told me that, if I skipped the line then I was going to get beat up! I told him I wasn’t trying to skip the line, that I was actually in my car. I called to check the status of my order, which he said was done.
His response: “Look I don’t know what to tell you. You have to wait outside like everyone else or you can get beat up.”
I told him he was being rude and that he misunderstood me. I told him that I didn’t feel comfortable waiting around 20 + people to pick up an order that was already ready. Furthermore, I asked him was someone coming outside to give out orders and he said no. So I wanted him to confirm that I would have to wait in this line for my completed order only to get to the front of the line and it be cold so that I don’t get beat up by you or the people in line.
His response: Yes
I told him no thank you and he could keep the food. This was my first time ordering from this place and I will never be back. I will definitely make sure that everyone I know understands that by asking simple questions you may get threatened by the people who work there.
You should never threaten the people who want to spend money at...
Read moreHeard there was a new seafood place open in Middle Tennessee. We’re talking all kinds of shellfish, crustaceans, fried fish options, and RAW OYSTERS!!! So made a date with my foodie buddie so we could get our hands dirty. We were seated immediately and started scouring the menu trying to decide what and how to order to get the best sample of the offerings. Our waiter Shawn provided us some guidance and we started off with a dozen oysters. While waiting for the oysters we finally decided on two “Get Your Hands Dirty” with Shrimp, Crawfish, Clams, Green Mussels, Black Mussels, and Sausage. The meal also comes with corn on the cob and whole red skin taters. We both decided on the Garlic Butter sauce at the mild level which was a great choice although there are other options with varying levels of “spice”
The oysters arrived chilled and very plump…these were a great deal and very tasty. When the “bags” of dinner arrived we were as happy as kids on Christmas morning. Having the freshly boiled seafood tossed in the garlic butter and Cajun spices in the bag was incredible. You get a bib and gloves, open the bag, and DIG IN! I have to say, everything in the bags was really good and the flavors from the sauce was spot on. A few highlights…the crawfish were huge and provided a lot of meat, the sausage was really good, and the green mussels were some of the best I have had in a long time. You need to break open the red skin taters and allow them to soak up some of the sauce…incredible. As for the corn on the cob…yes corn on the cob…just WOW with the garlic butter and spices.
Sarah (the manager) visited our table and checked on us a few times…she was a pleasure to talk to! Shawn provided us great service and on our way out reiterated it was a pleasure meeting us and to come back soon. This type of service, along with great food makes it worth the trip out to Hermitage. There are several other options and combinations to try here. Just letting folks know…not a low cost option for dinner BUT you are getting some delicious food that is very...
